Hello there friends, I'm Vatche Tchividian and I'd like to welcome you to my homepage.

I was born on the 23rd of December back in 1964, I live in Nicosia, Cyprus, in fact I've lived here all my life. My father's from Asia Minor (Silifke to be more precise) and my mother's from Beirut, Lebanon. My father moved to Cyprus at the age of 6 and he's lived here ever since. I speak 4 languages fluently those are Armenian, Greek, English and Turkish.

I went to the Nicosia English School till I was 17 then I joined my father in his business which is handbag making and I was a handbag maker till the end of 1998. Now I'm in the designing business.

My interests are free diving, swimming, fishing, bowling, shooting pool, cooking, listening to old music ...that's 60s, 70s and 80s, IRC and photography.

I started getting interested in photography at an early age but I never had the chance back then to get into it more deeply. I bought my first camera at the age of 12-13, it was a compact Kodak 110mm I recall, as time passed and I got deeper and deeper into it I started buying more cameras, more advanced and of better quality.

In 1990 I bought a Minolta X700, that's when I started getting more serious about photography, I started reading books, magazines, anything that had to do with photgraphy in fact. I became a member of the Cyprus Photographic Society (CPS) and started taking part in contests.

In 1994 I became a member of the BFP (Beureau of Freelance Photographers) School of Photography in London, I took a 2 year course which I finished successfully. During the time I was doing the course I had to sell pictures too, that was the whole point of the course, so I slowly started getting into freelance commercial photography.

Till now I've done lots of ads for magazines, newspapers and catalogues, I've sold pictures to postcards and greetings cards publishers in the UK and I have a very big selection (photo library as it's called in this business) of my own.

I started off with general photography, I shot anything that interested me or anything I liked, then I moved on to commercial photography as I mentioned earlier on, which includes model photography as well. That was when I realised this was what I've always wanted to do, it's a very pleasant job.

I took another course this time to specialise on portraiture, I started buying books about model photography and new equipment to help me in this field.

I have a big collection of people I've taken pictures of, but unfortunately I couldn't include them in here as I need their concent first, I might be doing that later on.

I recently started getting into digital imaging as well, computer imaging as it's otherwise called, now this is where the fun starts, you can do absolutely anything on the computer.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you more, I wish you a pleasant trip through my pics and don't forget to drop by again, I'll keep updating this page all the time. I'd be happy if you signed my guestbook and e-mailed me with your comments as well.
