Y's Men's Club of Vattiyoorkavu Trivandrum or Thiruvananthapuram
District II, South West India Region

We are located in the city of Trivandrum in India.

Trivandrum is the capital of Kerala, a state on the South - Western edge of India.  


Sister Clubs participate in the RD Visit Meeting : Ym. Dr. S.G. Churchin Ben, President of Kowdiar Club, Yw. Salima Ben, President of Queens Club and Yw. Jessey Harilal participated in the the RD visit meeting of the Club. We thank the guests for their kind gesture.     


Jills Philips comes first in All-India Quiz

Jills Philip, S/o Ym.Philip Jacob Kompithara, secured the first prize at the All India Architectural Quiz for students, "Archumen 04", recently at Bangalore.
The event which had more than 300 teams participating nationwide, saw 7 teams battling it out in the finals. S.P.A New Delhi, finished 3rd with 50 points, P.I.C.A, Mumbai at 2nd place with 51 points, and topping the show with 130 points was M.E.S School of Architecture, Kuttippuram, Kerala represented by Jills & Aabid. Renowned architect Tara Chandavarkar gave away the prizes to the winning teams. The MES Kuttippuram team had been the runners up last year, after losing out on a tiebreaker to SPA, New Delhi (same team this year). Jills is a final year architecture student at MES.


The Y's Men's Club of Vattiyoorkavu wishes to record its gratitude to the authorities of Saraswathy Vidyalayam, Thiruvananthapuram for providing the venue, with excellent arrangements, for Eco2005.

The LRD Visits the Club in March

The SWIR - Zone 1 LRD, Ym. Prof. Ben Roy, was the Chief Guest for the March meeting of the club held on 31 Mar 2005 at the residence of Ym. KG Satheesh Kumar and Ymt. Lekha. The meeting was well attended in spite of the mid-summer holidays having just begun. A short and sweet concert by Ylg. Job Kurien and his friend Yackson on the dimly lit terrace made a pleasant and relishing evening. Click here for photos

Visit of the Regional Director
The Club was blessed by the visit of the RD and his team on 20 Jan 2005. The residence of Ym. Thomas Job, Secretary hosted the important occasion.
The South West India Region RD, Ym. George T John, was accompanied by his menette, Ymt. Lalitha George, Regional Bulletin Editor, Ym. Dr. D. Stanley and District Governor, Ym. Er. E. Justus.

Cots gifted to rehabilitation centre
During the visit of the RD five cots were gifted to the Bethania Rehabilitation Centre at Kumarapuram. The sister in charge of the centre came to receive the gifts from the RD. She was accompanied by a few inmates, who presented dance items before the audience. The guests from Bethania also joined for dinner with the Y's Men families. Photos available here now.

Club Directory and bulletin released
Regional Director Ym. George T john released the club directory and the club bulletin at the function. The bulletin was received by the District Governor Ym. E. Justus and the Club Directory by Ym. Dr. Stanley. The members recorded their appreciation of the good work done by Ym. Benny K Mani in bringing out the directory and the bulletin.

RD inaugurates club website
20 Jan 2005, Trivandrum. Ym. George T John, the SWI Regional Director inaugurated the website of YMC Vattiyoorkavu in the presence of the first lady, Regional Bulletin Editor, the District Governor, guests from sister clubs and the club members. Ymt.Lalitha George, the first lady, also signed the online Guest Book of the Club.

Menettes make it grand in February

The February meeting conducted at the residence of Benson and Beena was made memorable by special games organised by the ladies and kids, especially Anitha Sunil and Aishwarya.
Musical entertainments were presented by Tanya, Annie, Asha Ajay, Sandra, Sanjana and Santhwana as well as a skit by Lekha, Ceena and Mamey.

100 students participate in Eco-2005

The Y's Men's Club of Vattiyoorkavu organised Eco-2005, an ecology programme at Saraswathy Vidyalayam, Trivandrum on 26th Jan 2005 for school students.

Ym. E. Justus, District II Governor inaugurated the event at 1.30 pm at a function presided over by the Club President Ym. Dr. Abraham Joshua.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Anitha Sharma, renowned envirnmental consultant and activist. Anitha Sharma has deep understanding of and keen interest in ecology education and is working in this area since early 1990s.

The first prize for the Quiz went to St.Shantal School and the second prize to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Six schools participated in the Quiz, which was essentially intended as an educational quiz.

Individual prizes for best participants went to Abhijith of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sreejith of Saraswathi Vidyalayam.

Ym. Prof.George T John gave away the prizes at the end of the programme. Ym. Dr. Joshua was profound in his vote of thanks and acknowledged the contributions of all in making the event a success.
