Bringing Home the Bacon The object of this exercise was to "bring home the bacon!" We arrived late in the day and rushed out into the field. What had started out as a drizzly, cool morning, changed dramatically. The weather cleared off and the sun shone. The wind continued to blow strongly from the North and cool temperatures moved in. About 5:30 PM, I saw two sows and about 8 piglets at over 200 yards and chose not to take the chance. Twenty -five minutes later a shot range out. What could have been the same group passed under Eddie's stand. Obviously, Eddie brought home the bacon. Kenneth drove out to Eddie, and they loaded his sow up and took it back to the cleaning station. |
