A Cold Morning and a Beautiful Day | ||||||||||||||||

Chasing Hogs does not require the same early hours as hunting deer, so we rolled out of our bunks a bit before sunrise. Kenneth asked me to look out on the porch and check the temperature: 32 degrees! The sunrise was beautiful! And as the sun rose, it revealed the heavy frost on the fields (and on the window of the Jeep I was driving on the lease. I used a spatchula to scrape the window!) The morning was cold, and we went out covered in layers that we soon shed as the day warmed up. No hogs were brought home today. Hunting is tough. I took some shots, and it is very likely that I hit a large sow at the end of the day in the 200+ range, but I was unable to recover her when she ran into the yaupon. Discouraging, yes. But I will be out there every opportunity I get! |
