Chapter 2 Slowly rolling over in bed, AJ moaned. Never should've stayed out that late. He rubbed at his eyes and slowly sat up. Thank god for the break, he was a mess. Slipping out of bed, he headed over to the bathroom and quickly took a shower. Suddenly his thoughts drifted back to the night before. Who was that mysterious woman and what had she done to that man? The whole thing didn't make sense, and what was up with those marks on his neck? He'd thought bite marks at first, but the more he thought about it, the more it couldn't be possible. That would mean that...that... No way. Maybe she had a stun gun, yeah, that's it. She had a stun gun and she got him in the neck with it. Of course he didn't tell the police that when he called. He wasn't crazy, despite what people said. Looking up at the clock, he groaned. He was supposed to go out and meet up with his mom an hour ago. He was expecting her call any second now. As if on cue, the phone rang. Grinning, he headed downstairs and grabbed the cordless. "Hello." "Honey!? Where are you? We were SUPPOSED to meet an hour ago! Is everything ok?" His mother called frantically into the phone. "Everything is fine mom. I stayed out too late last night. Sorry." "Alex I don't know what I'm gonna do about you. Well get dressed, I still want lunch." "I am dressed and on my way." "Alright good. I'll see you in a bit." With that she hung up. Smiling to himself, AJ walked into the kitchen and grabbed the orange juice bottle out of the refrigerator and headed out the door. *********************************** She kept tossing and turning, what was it about him? Why did she keep dreaming about him? Her eyes snapped open and she looked at the clock next to her. Three in the afternoon and she couldn't sleep. What was going on? She moaned, she should've just killed him when she had the chance. Damn him! She rubbed fiercely at her eyes and turned over in her bed, slamming the pillows with her hands before burying her face in it. Tonight, tonight she'd find him and finish what she started last night. *********************************** "I'll call you later aight." "Ok AJ, I'll see you again soon." She leaned over to kiss his cheek before sliding out of the truck and heading up to her door. With one last wave, she entered the house. AJ grinned, just like old times. He'd only gotten recognized half a dozen times, not too bad. His friends never seemed to get used to it though. Pulling out of the driveway, he started down the road. He reached over and turned the radio on, listening to his favorite station. His life was nothing short of a dream. What he'd dreamed of for so long, had actually happened, ten times better than he could ever have imagined. Millions of albums sold, touring around the world, thousands upon thousands of screaming fans. Who could ask for more? But he'd had his difficulties, they all had. Now was a time to start over. Turning down the street, he headed back home. ************************************* She watched as he bobbed his head to the song that was playing, a smile playing over her lips as she watched him adjust his rearview mirror. She didn't know what she'd seen last night, but it wasn't there now. This would be easy. She appeared in the seat next to him, watching him carefully. She bit her lip to keep from laughing as she watched him turn his head, staring at the seat she was sitting in. "You can't see me..." She couldn't help but laugh this time as his head jerked around. She loved to do this, play with their minds. She cleared her throat. "I'm everywhere, and you can't see me...you can't see me." He slammed hard on the breaks. What the hell was that? He could've sworn he heard a voice, a woman. There was no one. Shaking his head, he pressed the gas and went on. She could end it right here, right now. A freak car accident, his truck run off the side of the road. That'd be no fun for her though, and she was hungry. She dissolved and reappeared behind him. She lightly ran her hands over his neck and down his arms, playing with him. She smiled as he shifted in the seat slightly. She leaned in, blowing lightly in his ear. The truck swerved, his shoulders lifting quickly and dropped as he breathed heavily. She could feel the fear pouring through him, his blood racing. It was always so much better touched with fear. He was so dizzy, and he couldn't breathe. He brought his hand up and rubbed at the back of his neck. He could've sworn he felt air on his neck, he was so startled he almost ran his truck off the road. Fortunately the street was empty this time of night. He could've killed someone. "Alex, man you're screwed up." He sighed heavily. Leaning over, she ran her tongue lightly over his neck, along the vein that throbbed there. Sweet, she knew his blood would be sweet. It took all of her control to not taste him, to feel the intoxicating elixir flow through her veins. She pushed herself away, away from the temptation and sat on his lap. He had sunglasses on, at night. Interesting. She stared into his eyes. "Take your glasses off..." She watched as he reached up, pulling the glasses off, staring blankly ahead. Now she would do it. She leaned forward, towards his neck. She ran her hands up his arms to rest on his neck. Opening her mouth she started towards him again, when she felt him jerk. Quickly she pulled back, her eyes connecting with his. She couldn't look away as their gazes locked. His eyes seemed to focus and it was as if he was looking at her, like he could see her. Her eyes widening, she left quickly. What was happening? He slammed again on the breaks. Someone was there, he was sure of it now. He could feel another presence in the truck, something that told him to take his sunglasses off. Turning, he looked behind him, in the backseat, next to him, nothing. Turning again to face the road, he blinked a few times. Slowly he replaced the glasses and quickly made his way home. |
