Chapter 13 "So yeah, you can bring someone if ya want." Howie called into the phone. "Ok cool, I know who I'm gonna invite. When is it again?" "This Friday at seven." "Aight, so I'll call ya after I find out if this person can come." "Sounds good. Talk to ya in a bit then." "Bye." Nick hung up the phone and slumped back on the couch. Should he ask her? She did have boyfriend, but what harm was there in going to a party with him? His thoughts drifted back to yesterday evening in the store. He'd thought about it all day. He hadn't planned on saying what he did, it just slipped out. And then when he kissed her ear. Nick smirked, she was right, he hadn't been talking about candy bars. It was just too great of an opportunity to pass up. Oh sure, he was being bad, but it was fun. Making his mind up, he reached over and picked up the phone. Holding up the business card, he dialed the number on the back.. "Hello." "Is this Keyana?" "Yes it is." "Keyana, it's Nick." He figured it'd be better if he didn't bring up the store incident. "O-oh, Nick. Hello." "Hi. Look I have something to ask you." "Ummm, ok." "My friend is having a party on Friday, and I was told to bring someone. I thought you might like to join me." "Nick, I don't know." "It'll be a lot of fun, I've known him forever. You'll enjoy yourself." "No, I don't think you understand." "What? It'd be off company time, so it'd just be like friends hanging out." "No, it's not that." Although she was worried about that, but then again it didn't say anywhere that she couldn't be friends with her clients outside of work. "Then what?" "I have..." "You have?" "N-nothing, nevermind. Look, let me call you back. I have to do something first." "Ok." "Bye." Keyana abruptly hung up. This was crazy, why was she even considering this? Why didn't she tell him? Why didn't she say she had a boyfriend? What stopped her? Panic started to set in. Questions that she seemed to be avoiding, questions she didn't want to answer. Maybe it was because she wanted to go. Picking the phone back up, she dialed. "Hello." "Hi honey." "Keyana! How's my girl?" Shane called happily. "I'm alright. There's something I wanna ask ya." "Go ahead." "Well, a...friend of mine is having a party and invited me to go. Do you mind?" "Why would I mind? And since when did you think you had to call and ask permission to go anywhere?" "I don't. I just, I mean...nevermind. I just wanted to check with you." "Oh ok. Did you want me to come with ya?" "NO! I mean...no that's ok really. It's just gonna be a bunch of people you don't know." What was she doing?? She didn't even know them. If he wasn't suspicious before, he would be now. "Oh." "Yeah, so I'll talk to ya later ok baby." "Yeah, alright." "Love you, bye." "Bye." Keyana hung up the phone, she felt like shit. Wrong, it was so wrong. She didn't know why she was doing this, she didn't know why she didn't tell Shane that her friend was a guy. Shane wasn't the jealous type, and her and Nick were just friends. He was her client for god's sakes, it's not like anything would happen. So it was ok to go to a party with him. That thought in mind, she reached over and picked up the phone. Walking over to her briefcase, she pulled out Nick's file retrieved his number and dialed. "Hello." "I'll go." "Great. I'll just call my friend back and let him know. I'll pick you up on Friday at six-thirty. Just give me your address." Keyana told him the address. "Ok, I'll see you then." Nick called before hanging up. He stared at the phone a minute before picking it back up and dialing again. "Yo Bone, I did it man." "Did what?" "I asked her out." "You what!?" "I asked her out." "Where?" "To Howie's party on Friday night." "I can't don't believe you!" "Believe it. I'm coming over." "Why?" "I need help dancing." "Oh god." "I'm not gonna make a fool of myself, and besides I want more tips and stuff." "Nick man, this is wrong." "It's not like I'm dating her, or she's cheating. We're just friends." "Nick, she's your interior decorator! Damn man, they don't date their clients." "We're not dating AJ! How many times do I have to tell you this!" AJ sighed. "Ok so I'll see you in a bit." Nick hung up the phone, grabbed his keys and headed out. ********************************************************************** "That's good. You're not that bad, just remember to grind man. Grind for all it's worth." AJ sighed, shaking his head. "Use your hands, you want to make her feel like she's the only one in the room with you, that the song is about you two. Feel and learn her body so you know how she moves, and she knows how you move." AJ shook his head again. "You'd think all those years of dancing with Fatima would pay off." "Shut up! I don't dance besides what's choreographed, you know that." "It shows." "Would you stop! Anyway, I guess I'm gonna jet. Thanks for the help with everything." "I told you some of my key phrases, use them wisely. It's taken me years to come up with just right words." Nick started at him for a moment, before shaking his head."Yeah whatever, anyway I'm out. Talk with you soon." Nick waved and headed out the door. AJ shook his head sadly and headed up to his room. Entry 6 Hey, so I invited her to Howies party on friday...should be cool to see how it works out. I just got back from AJ's and he helped me a little. I'll right and let ya know...later Nick |
