Chapter 20 Later that night... "Come on in." Shane stepped in and Keyana shut the door. She walked wordlessly over to the couch and sat. Shane followed and also sat, turning to look at her. "Keyana, baby." She sniffled and looked at him. "I'm sorry." She nodded and bit her lip as Shane opened his arms. She hesitated only a moment before she allowed him to envelope her in his embrace. "Never, it'll never happen again. I'll never accuse you of cheating again, I was so stupid to think you'd ever do that." Keyana closed her eyes, he'd been wrong at the time but it'd changed. She'd kissed another man. She buried her face in his neck. "Let me make it up to you, let's go out to dinner." Keyana pulled away. "Now?" "Yeah, we'll go to Dominick's." "But I'm a mess. I have to get dressed first." "You look beautiful baby, no need to change." "Please. Just give me a minute and I'll be right back." She bolted off the couch and headed up to her room. This is just what they needed to get back on track, she wouldn't think of last night at all. No, everything was gonna be ok now. Hurrying into her room, she ran to her closet to look for something to wear. ******************************************************************* "I'll just have the garden salad with the soup please." She handed the waiter the menu and smiled over at Shane who was also handing the waiter his menu. "I've really missed you." Shane whispered, reaching out to take her hands in his. "I missed you too. I hate when we fight." "Me too." Keyana smiled and closed her eyes in contentment. His face, she saw his face. Her eyes snapped open and she looked around quickly. Clearing her throat, she looked back at Shane and forced a smile. He was saying something, but she couldn't hear him. "So then I said to him that I wasn't gonna do that yo know, but he didn't wanna listen and the next thing I know..." Suddenly she wasn't at the table, she was back at her house and Nick was over her. His lips touched hers, moving down throat. She could feel her heart starting to pound, her eyes drifting shut. Further down he went, his lips moving down her chest to... "Keyana? Honey you ok?" Shane's voice broke her reverie, she jumped and looked at him guiltily. Her face was burning, she grabbed her napkin and brought it to her mouth. "You alright?" Shane asked again, concerned. She nodded fiercely, the napkin still over her mouth. The nausea rising in her stomach. This was bad. She dabbed at her forehead, she hadn't even realized she'd started sweating. Her hands were shaking badly. "Ok, if you say so. So anyway, I told him that..." She tried to focus on what he was saying, she tried hard. A few minutes later their food came. Shane was still talking and she watched as his lips moved. Lips, lips on her. They weren't Shane's, they were his. She fanned herself with her hand. "My god, you're all flushed baby! Drink something, maybe you should run to the rest room." She nodded and quickly bolted up and headed into the bathroom. ******************************************************************** "Thanks for dinner tonight Shane." "Anything for you honey." "So I'll call ya tomorrow afternoon. I've gotta schedule an appointment this evening." "Oh." Keyana sighed. "Yes it's with Nick." "I didn't say anything." "You didn't have to. Just trust me Shane, please." She felt bad saying that, after what she'd done. "I do trust you baby, I do." "Thank you. I'll talk to ya tomorrow." Shane took her in his arms and kissed her gently. It was different, it felt different than when...She wouldn't think of that. With one last smile, Shane left and Keyana walked over to the phone. ******************************************************************** He looked over his closet and sighed. He had nothing good, everything was old. He had to get new clothes. He couldn't make the kind of impact he wanted with clothes like these. He needed more stylish look. The phone rang, still looking at his closet, he walked over and picked up the cordless phone and pressed the button. "'Lo?" "Nick...Keyana Johnson here." Nick grinned, sitting down on his bed. "Good evening Keyana." "Hello. I'm calling to schedule an appointment for tomorrow morning at my office." He noticed her professional tone and chuckled. "How's things with Shane? Has he apologized yet?" He must've taken her off guard because she stumbled over her words. "Wha-what? Oh, oh well yes he did. Things are fine thank you. Now about the appointment. I was thinking eleven-thirty. Will that work for you?" Sighing heavily he agreed. "Great, so I'll see you tomorrow morning at eleven-thirty then. Good night Nick." She hung up abruptly. She was professional, painfully professional on the phone. Nick realized she was trying to make up for the fact that he'd kissed her last night, he should've seen it coming. Looking back over at his closest. Yes, he needed a new wardrobe. Grinning, he walked over and started pulling the clothes out and piling them on the bed. |
