Chapter 2 "I love you too baby, so much." Nick smiled, hugging her close to him. He leaned in, kissing her deeply, pulling her ontop of him, running his hands up and down her bare back. He pulled away, smiling up at her. "Wow, you're so happy." "It's cause I'm with you baby, you make me this happy." "I'm so lucky to have you." "No, I'm lucky to have YOU!" Nick chuckled, leaning up to kiss her gently. "Mmm, I hate to do this, but I gotta run baby." "Aww no! You can stay a little longer." "I wish I could, but I have an appointment later this morning and I wanted to take a shower quickly. God, it's already eight. I have to go." She slid off him quickly, picking up her clothes, starting to dress. "Come on Celeste, you can't leave me like this! Hurting and achin' for ya!" Nick pouted. "Nick, honey, don't look at me like that! You know I can't resist when you pout like that!" Celeste moaned. He pouted more and she groaned, walking over and sitting on the bed, leaning over and kissing him deeply. "We'll continue this later I promise, ok?" "Lest!!!" "Don't lest me! I gotta run honey." She leaned in, kissing him again before winking and standing, continuing to gather her clothes. Nick watched her sadly, he wanted to cuddle more. "I'm outta here baby. I'll call ya later this afternoon. Love you!" She blew him a kiss and walked out the room. "Bye" Nick whispered. A few seconds later he heard the door slam and then a car door. Groaning, he flopped back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. He didn't feel like getting up, but there were things he needed to do. He sat up slowly stretching lazily, scratching at his stomach. Swinging his legs out of the bed, he stood, pulling his boxers on and sauntering out his room and down the stairs into the kitchen. Rummaging around, he made himself a bowl of cereal, armed with his cell phone, sat to the table, checking his voicemail. Twelve messages, one from AJ, two from his friend John, and the rest from The Firm, confirming his meeting with them about the promotion for his album and just nagging him as they usually did. Groaning, he flipped his phone off and set it on the table. If someone had told him nine years ago, this is were he'd be, he would have called them crazy. But he was happy, truly happy, happier than he'd been in a long time. Sitting back in his chair, he tried to think of the last time when he felt like this. Like everything in his life was perfect, he could only think of one time and that time was three years ago. Everything had seemed perfect and he was happy, very happy. Maybe even more so than now, but it was all a lie, all a prelude to what would later end up being one of the hardest times of his life. He shoved the bowl away bitterly. What a waste it'd been, all the time all the pain and the screaming and yelling for what? He shook his head. Three years later and the pain was still there. The pain of loss and the end of what he thought was forever. Everyday he just went on like it was ok, they saw each other and it was like it never happened, like they had never happened. But they had, they had happened and the fact that there was nothing there anymore, that hurt the most. Why would that be different from any other relationship? He still couldn't answer that question, after all this time. None of the others had been this hard, this painful. Sighing heavily he rested his head in his arms. No use hurting over it anymore, that's what he always told himself, but it never worked. It'd always be there, and so would she. |
