Chapter 12

He looked up at the clock; she should be off work by now. Should he call her? Maybe he was moving too fast here. Wait, they were just friends anyway, not like he was dating her or anything, so how could he be moving fast?

Nick was trying hard to not think that he was just using Illana since him and Vanessa had broken up. He didn't want to think that. He wasn't using her, he wasn't. When he was with Illana, he wasn't even thinking of Vanessa. With Illana, he could be himself he could say whatever he wanted. More importantly, he could touch her. She'd let him hold her the other night, it was all he needed and it'd felt so right.

He could still feel her softness, the imprint of her body seemed to have been burned into his skin, and sometimes he could still catch the fragrance of her perfume in the air. He'd taken off his clothes that night, not washing them. He sat on his bed, inhaling his shirt, catching whiffs of her sent. It was absolutely crazy, but he couldn't help it. It'd made him feel closer to her.

Picking the phone back up he dialed quickly. He needed someone to talk to, a friend. He needed her.

"Hello?"

"Hey."

"Nick, what's up?"

"I need to get out of this house again. Want to go to the park?"

"Sure."

"Ok, I'll be by to pick you up."

"I can drive ya know."

"I know, but you're not gonna. Don't argue."

"Ohh well excuse me!" Illana laughed.

"Don't let it happen again!"

"Yeah sure. See ya in a bit."

"See ya." Nick pressed the button and stared at the phone. Friend, she was just a friend. That's what he kept telling himself as he grabbed his keys and headed out the door.
