Chapter 28

She pulled her skirt up and then slipped her shoes on. Thank god it was Friday, she'd been dying all week to go out. She quickly applied her make up and then sat down on her bed. After a long day of work, she decided to head out to a club, she'd asked Kris to come with her, but she was going out with her boyfriend Josh tonight. Thinking a moment, she grabbed the phone and dialed. She'd do anything to take her mind off the whole Vanessa thing.

"Hello?"

"Hi Nick!" She called happily.

Ok so she really wouldn't be away from the situation, but she was lonely.

"Lana, sup' girl?" Nick replied.

"Not much. Look, I'm going out this evening and I have no one to...go out with. Wanna join me?"

"Sure, sounds cool."

"Umm, do you need a bodyguard or whatever?"

"Yeah, I'll get someone."

"Ok, so how bout you meet me there?"

"I could just come and get you."

"Nah that's ok, I'm getting ready to head out now." She heard Nick sigh dramatically.

"You do not like having people do stuff for you do ya?"

"Nope, not really."

Nick sighed again. "Fine."

"Alright, meet me at Edge 200. I'll be there in probably fifteen."

"Cool. See ya then."

"Bye." She pressed the button and grabbed her purse from the dresser and headed downstairs. Putting the phone back, she left and headed to her car. ***********************************************************************
She made her way around the club, talking and chatting some of her friends she knew. She made her way out to the dance floor and starting dancing. She smiled at the guy in front of her as he turned and started dancing with her. He was cute, but not her type. She usually went for the tall, charming, blond hair, blue-eyed...suddenly she felt arms slip around her waist and lead her back. Gasping, she turned to find the eyes she'd just though of, smiling down at her.

"Hi!"

"Nick! You scared the shit outta me!" Illana yelled over the music, frowning slightly.

"Aww baby, I'm sorry." Nick apologized, but a faint smile lingered on his lips as he pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly.

"Yeah, I bet. Just don't let it happen again." She laughed, pulling away and leading him over to an empty table. "Wow, I didn't even see you come in. Did you get recognized?"

"Nah, not yet. I'm waiting though." He grinned.

"So umm...where's your protection?" She felt her face flush at her words, which could be used in an entirely different way.

Nick smiled and gestured with his head. "Over there somewhere. Q likes to stay out of sight, but keep me in sight."

"Ohh, I see."

Just then a waiter came up to take their orders.

"I'll just have a 'Sex on the Beach' please."

After taking Nick's order, she left.

"Ya know, if that's what you wanted all you had to do was ask."

She looked at him, puzzled. "Huh?"

"Sex on the beach, all ya had to do was ask." Nick smirked, a playful glint in his eyes.

Illana laughed and leaned in close, motioning for him to come closer also. He scooted forward. "When and where baby?" She whispered, winking at him. Apparently it wasn't the response he'd expected cause suddenly his smile faded and he simply looked at her. She tilted her head and Nick was getting ready to say something when the waitress came back and gave them their drinks. Whatever Nick had been about to say, apparently he'd forgotten because now he was looking across the dance floor.

"Would you like to dance?"

Illana turned her head to find the guy from before standing before her. She smiled at him.

"I mean, if your boyfriend doesn't mind."

Illana looked over at Nick who was studying the guy intensely.

"Who? Him? Nah, we're just friends. Like I'd date Mr. Macho over there." She smirked. Nick looked over at her, clearly confused and raised his eyebrows. She groaned and waved her hand carelessly at him. "Sure, I'd love to." Taking the guys hand, she let him led her out to the dance floor.

Nick sipped at his drink and watched the two dancing together. His eyes narrowed as he watched the guy wrap his arms around Illanas' waist, rubbing against her erotically. Taking a steadying breath, he cleared his throat. He was way too close to her. He rubbed at his temples and watched as she laced her arms around his neck, playing with his hair.

"Shit!" He muttered, suddenly in a bad mood. Just when he thought he could take no more, she turned, her back to him as the guy gyrated his hips into her from behind.

He slammed his glass down, he wanted so bad to walk up there and pull her away from him and into his arms. He fisted his hand on the table and was getting ready to stand when her eyes caught his and he stilled, just looking at her. She smiled then and suddenly, she winked. She winked at him and he melted, the tension easing from his body immediately, replaced with something else, a longing of sorts.
He slumped back in his seat. Their earlier conversation of sex on the beach had totally floored him. He'd only been teasing, he hadn't been expecting her to say what she had and he didn't know what to say to that. How do you tell someone that that had been one of their fantasies? He buried his face in his hands.

"Nick?"  He lifted his head.

"You ok? I notice you looked all flushed before." Illana looked at him concerned, sliding into her seat across from him.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine." He smiled.

She raised an eyebrow. "You're not lying are ya? Cause if you are, I'd have to hurt you."

"Oh yeah, hurt me baby." Nick laughed.

She smacked him and sipped at her drink. "So why aren't you out there dancing?"

"Don't wanna."

She stared blandly at him. "I don't wanna." She mocked.

"Shut up!" Nick moaned.

"Come on Nick, how are you supposed to meet people, potential girlfriends, if you don't get out and there and get yo groove on!" She laughed.

He looked over at her. He didn't want to meet anyone else. "I can't dance."

"Liar! You're such a fuckin' liar! Come on." She stood, grabbing his hands and pulling him out of his chair.

"Lana! I don't wanna." Nick whined.

She rolled her eyes. "Baby. Now, dance with me a bit and then sorta look for someone and just go with the flow."

Nick looked at her as her eyes scanned the room. Leaning close to her, he whispered in her ear. "I'd much rather dance with you."

She pulled away to look at him, clearly startled. "Uhh...ok."

She surprised him by not arguing. Sliding his hands around hands around her waist as they started dancing.

"I'm gonna have to hire your bodyguard."

Nick looked at her puzzled. "Why?"

"To protect me from you." She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Nick laughed. "Yeah ya better watch out."

She chuckled as they continued to dance. She didn't know how right she was.  ************************************************************************
They headed out the club a few hours later and over to Illana's car, Nick's bodyguard trailing behind. He hadn't really gotten noticed much, and when he had, it wasn't anything he couldn't handle.

"Well thanks for hanging out with me Nick, normally I'd go with Vanessa but you know."

"It's no problem, I had fun."

"Good, so I'll call you later then?"

"Sure, I'll talk to ya then."

"Ok, bye Nick. Thanks again." She smiled, hugging him tightly.

"Bye Lana. Sweet dreams."  She waved and headed over to her car. Nick watched her drive away and sighed, before making his way over to his truck.
