Chapter 12

No question, she wouldn't call him. She couldn't do that, it was wrong. She finished entering the information into the computer and swirled around, looking over the papers in front of her. Now, if she just called her boss and doubled checked about that fundraiser then she could really get going on it. Something was keeping her back though. Ok, she had all the names of people that were invited to the golf tournament, the admission price...maybe she should call Howie, what's the big deal? They could be friends couldn't they?

She groaned, her mind had wandered again. Standing quickly, she walked over and got herself another cup of coffee and sat back down. Now, where was she? Right, the admission price. Prices were set and now she just needed approval and she could have Trevor send out the invitations. Ok, she'd call her boss right now and get his approval.

She picked up the phone, preparing to press the button to reach Mark, when she stopped. It would be nice to talk to Howie, it'd be nice to get out and do something sometime. Unconsciously, she set the phone back down. She could show him around Utah and show him all the other places outside of the Olympics. She smiled and cried out suddenly as the phone rang, she grabbed the phone.

"Hello? Oh, yes Mark. I was just going to call you, right. Yes well, I got distracted." Inwardly she cursed herself. That was it, she'd cut all ties with him, she wouldn't call him or anything. As far as she was concerned, Howard Dorough had gone back to Florida and out of her life.

He wasn't expecting her to call, now he had to plan and strategize. What should he do? He didn't want to act like he was stalking her; he knew what that felt like. He was resourceful, he'd have to find out her typical routine and conveniently show up where she was...he'd make himself assessable so that she'd have no choice but to eventually come to him.

He really surprised himself sometimes, he didn't know where he came up with these schemes, the guys told him quite frequently that the fans how no idea just how devious and slick he was.

He'd invade her mind, break down those walls and strip that professionalism and cool calmness that he admired about her.

How did he do this though? Someone like her he couldn't just...bumrush. She had to be handled gently, suavely.  He couldn't follow her in a car all day and knowing her; she probably just worked and went home. Reaching over, he picked up the phone. Even he knew better than to just go into battle without consulting the master.

"Hello?"

"J? It's me, you got a minute?"

"Hey man s'up?!" AJ called excitedly.

"Not much, look, I need some help."

"Ok, shoot."

"There's this woman that..."

"Wait wait, is this that same woman from before? The PR lady?"

"Yeah, why?"

"No reason, go on."

"Anyway, so this woman...I like her. But she's like, she's not cooperating with me, so I want to sort of, conveniently be accessible to her you know? Run into her at places she's at and whatever."

"So? What's the problem?"

"So the problem is, how do I do that without looking like a stalker?"

"Just ask her out then."

"I did! She's not interested, she's really career oriented and shit."

"Hey, I thought that's what you wanted D."

"It was, it still is. But I also like someone who can set her job aside and have fun and enjoy life, and I don't think she does."

"So just forget her man, find someone else."

"I don't wanna find someone else, I want, I want her."

AJ was quiet for a moment. "Ok D, this is what I want you to do."
