Chapter 14 He walked, his head lowered. Quickly, he found a seat and grabbed a magazine. He really hoped this worked, AJ assured him it was full proof. He had to be crazy to go along with one of AJ's ideas. He looked at his watch; he wondered how long he'd have to wait. He hoped he didn't get noticed. He flipped through the magazine, not really reading it. He made sure he could see her office. He watched as she moved around, talking animatedly to someone on the phone. He quickly looked back at his magazine as she came out of her office, grabbing something from Trevor and walking back in. He looked down at his watch, she'd be leaving in about twenty minutes, he hoped he hadn't missed it already. He sat up straighter as he watched her come out of her office again, returning whatever she'd taken from Trevor's desk earlier and was now pausing to talk with him. He strained to listen. "Yeah all finished for tonight." "So what do you have planned for this evening or do I even need to ask." "Why do you ask me that? Did you ever stop to think that maybe I have some hot date tonight Trevor that I have to go home and get ready for? Did that thought ever occur to you?" Howie truly hoped not. He frowned. "No, not in the least." Jordan frowned. "I may just surprise you." "Right. So what ARE you doing tonight then?" She sighed. "Nothing really. Gonna head home get out of these clothes and head over to the store to pick up something for dinner." Store? She was going to the store? That's it? Ok that was way too easy; he could of come up with that himself, he should've known that would be the only place she'd go to. Maybe she had other plans. "Jordan come on! Go out and enjoy yourself! I've been working with you for how long now?" "Three years" Jordan answered, tired of the same old conversation with him, they seemed to go through this every evening. "And in those three years, how many times have you told me you were going out on a date?" "None" "None, that's right not even ONCE. You're an attractive woman, I don't see why you don't just…" "I've told you over and over again Trevor! Work…" "…Is more important I know. I just don't know about you. Go out there and have some fun. You're wasting the best years of your life on work. Granted work is great and all, but you need to have some fun too ya know." Jordan sighed. "Yeah, that's what you and everyone else has told me. I have fun, I have fun at home doing work. That's good enough for me." Trevor rolled his eyes. "Why do I bother?" "Cause ya love me." Jordan answered, giving one of her rare smiles. Howie raised an eyebrow, she definitely needed to smile more, he'd work on that. "Yeah yeah. Well TRY to have a good night boss. Don't go too crazy and spend all your money at Filmore's" Trevor grinned. "I'll try not too." She rolled her eyes, walking back into her office. Filmore's. All set. Howie smiled. Jordan locked her office door and strode back out, pulling her coat on in the process. "Trevor, did anyone help that gentlemen that's been sitting over there?" "I dunno, I don't think so. He never said anything to me and I never even saw him come in." "Oh god! Ok, let me see if I can help him before I leave." They both lifted their heads to greet the man, but except for them, the room was now, empty.
