Special Contest Requirements:

Safety
Eye and ear protection is required.  Bring your own ear protection and shooting glasses.  Contestants will not be allowed on the range without ear protection and shooting glasses.

Equipment
Shooters are to provide, their own shotguns and ammunition.  Arrangements must be made between Extension staff, the 4-H shotgun leader and the contest chairman to have these delivered to the contest site by an adult approved by the contest chair. 
No shotguns or ammunition may be brought on campus. Arrangements muse also be made to transport the shotguns and ammunition home after the contest.

Contest Organization And Contest:

Team Championship
   Each contestant will shoot at total of 25 clay targets from at least five different stations with optimum breakpoints at a range of 10-30 yards.  Each county may enter a Junior and a Senior Team.  The best three scores from each team are compiled for a team score.  Ties are broken with a team captain competition.

Individual Championship
1.  The top 5 shooters in the team event will shoot a special event consisting of 15-25 targets.
2.  Selection ties will be broken be counting straight runs of broken targets from last target broken backwards.
3.     Final ties will be broken by a "sudden victory" shoot-off.

Awards:


1.  The members of the high scoring  Junior and Senior teams will be awarded plaques.

2.  The high scoring Junior and Senior individuals will be awarded a plaque.

3.  The top teams and top individuals will be announced at the Recognition Assembly during the Penn State 4-H Achievement Days.

4.  Team ribbons will be awarded to a maxium of ten (10) teams.

5.  Merit ribbons will be awarded to all  individual participants (33 percent
blue, 33 percent red, 33 percent white).
