"I love harvest time," Buck commented, tacking a swath of bunting to
the Clarion doorframe. "Crops coming in, good smells in the air,
folks getting set for one last big time before winter."
"The Fall Festival is wonderful," Mary agreed. "Better every
year.
It was nice of you all to help to set up."
"Our pleasure," he said, moving his decorations to the next
storefront. "JD and Ezra are having a good time putting the games
together and Vin and Nathan have been pegging flyers to anything that
stood still long enough."
"There should be a big crowd tonight," she agreed happily. "What
were Chris and Josiah doing with those pumpkins and rags?"
Buck chortled. "They're building scarecrows all over town. Josiah
says nothing is gonna spoil this party if he can help
it."
Shaking her head fondly, she asked, "Who are you escorting to
tonight's dance?"
"Well, Jenny and Blossom both asked, but I decided to step out with
Katy tonight."
Mary teased him, "Save me a space on your dance-card?"
Jesting right back, he said, "Right at the very top, darlin'."
She laughed. "I'll see you tonight, then."
Buck tipped his hat. "I'll be lookin' forward to it."
