Student Updates: Monday,September 24th Week 6, only 12 weeks to go! August 20-24 ----Introduction and Heartfelt Welcome! ----What does "history" mean? Its methods, its direction. Please prepare yourselves for an objective (true/false) scantron quiz next week on this subject. You are solely responsible for the terms and concepts on this handout. Take aggressive lecture notes and for those students who want to go the extra mile you can read the introduction in the Portable Greek Historians, available in any public library. August 21 All required texts are now available at the SWC bookstore: The Unfinished Nation: A Concise History of the American People, Vol 1. to 1877; by Brinkley Defending Slavery; by Finklemen James K. Polk: An Unquestionable Destiny; by Leonard Reading: Unfinished Nation, chapter 1. Take aggressive notes in class and then use the readings to augment the lectures.
