We should always respect the rights of others, as well as ourselves.

Other class rules are as follows:
1.  Follow all directions.
2.  Raise your hand to speak (this is during lessons and working time only.  Talking will permitted otherwise, as long as the children are not yelling, as we don't want to hinder the learning of the children in the classrooms around ours!).
3. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
4. Walk inside the building.
5. Repect each other and each other's property.
6. Use good manners, be polite and take turns.

I also DO NOT accept cheating in any way!! If I catch you cheating, I will give you a 0% on your work and will change your Citizenship card!

Consequences For Not Followng Rules
There is a chart in the classroom with colored cards to keep track of each child's citizenship.  Citizenship grades for report cards will be based on this chart.  I take a weekly grade every Friday.  Every child starts out with 100% at the beginning of each week.

1. First time- Warning
2. Second time-  90%
3. Third time-  80%
4. Fourth time- 70%
5. Fifth time- 60%

Should I have to speak to your child more than 5 times in a week, more discipline action will be taken.  I will call you, and I may send your child to the office.  First Grade has an After School Detention Program.

If another teacher has to discipline students in my classroom that continuously misbehave on the playground or in the cafeteria, his/her card will be changed.

Another thing I always mention to the students is not to cheat on their work.  If they are caught cheating, their work will be picked up and they will be given a zero for the assignment.  This may sound harsh in First Grade, but I feel that each individual child needs to do his/her own work.  I cannot see their true effort and skills learned if they copy from each other!
