Dear Vera-- I visited your website today on geocities and was pleased to see all the variety of materials you have there. I like the look of the web site very much. Also, not having seen a picture of you before, it was nice to visit to "see" you finally. To "see" me, you can check out the url I'm leaving in your guestbook. How is the listserve going? Do you have many subscribers? Discussions? I'm going to go there to subscribe myself today. We have a guest from Brasilia this week who is visiting schools and universities and helping to plan student exchanges, electronic collaboration, and character education projects. She's from Tauguatinga and teaches in the Central Language school there, a public school that takes high school and middle school students from all over Tauguatinga. I'm going to show her your site and the listserve. The problem she has is the usual one in Brazil. Her school is poor--it has only one computer hooked up to the internet and that computer is in a teacher only room. The students don't have access. I'm wondering if you have ideas for how she might improve the situation, or strategies you have used or know have been successful in similar situations. Take care, Andy

Your site is absolutely on target! I'm a librarian working at a new women's college in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. (Zayed University) We are looking for reading materials - poetry, short stories, appropriate ya materials -- for college freshmen (wo en) to read. All are UAE nationals whose first language is Arabic. The students have very little "context" for learning English. The faculty is US, Canadian and British primarily.
