Hello back home!

Happy New Year! I am getting a little anxious to get home...it seems
like I have been gone forever. If I was working here it would be okay
but, it gets to the point that there is only so much that you can do on
a budget. We went to the Sydney Harbour (circular quay) last night
for new years. We were right on the Sydney opera house stairs.
Sydney is the first in the world to celebrate new years. The fireworks
were sooo nice. I can't believe how many people were there. Picture
the Calgary Stampede and times it by about 10 or 20. The lines were
ridiculous. There were beer gardens, really expensive, there were
souveniers, food stands, bands....all for the fireworks!  There was
also a BIG sail boat all decked out with lights on the harbour...it was
soo nice. It was on T.V. last night. I guess Steph's parents watched
it....and we were there! Then getting back on the train...oh my god!
it was crazy. We had to go 2 stops on one train, transfer and then go
3 on another and it was so full that we were sweating just being on
there that long. We were supposed to meet up with some people
that we met in MacKay, but it was so crazy that we could not find
them at all. Then at 12ish we tried to call them and ALL the networks
were busy until 1 am. We didn't drink, I don't know why, but, we
didn't. We are hiding out in the internet cafe today because it is
sooo hot. There is a wind but, it is hotter with the wind. It is supposed
to get to 40 degrees or more today. It is probably pretty close.  We are
in this hostel room that has no a/c and only one fan for 8 people....
I had the worst sleep of my life the day before last. One of the girls
that is in our room has decided to invite her obnoxious boyfriend
to stay in our room, without paying, and stay in her bed. He bought
another fan for 'all of us' and noone but them has had the privilege
of feeling any of the breeze. okay so he bought it but, don't tell
everyone that its for all of us and then keep it for your self. Then
yesterday he dropped his phone in his Whiskey...don't ask how...
and decided to throw it out the window....it hit, and dented, a car
that was parked outside. 'oops!' That's all he had to say. The phone
worked just fine but, he threw it anyways because, "it was only $900".
Very strange charactor. I guess that's what you get for paying $20 to
stay in Sydney. We will be going to Wollongong, south of Sydney,
tomorrow. We were there when we first got here and met some
awesome people there. One of our friends is comming to pick us up
tomorrow...we just have to store some of our luggage because we
each have 2 bags now and they won't all fit in the car. I have realized
that I have a shopping addiction...i am coming home with almost
double what I left with in clothes. i also bought one pair of runners
and one pair of sandals....it's just so cheap here. I really miss
everyone back home and I look forward to seeing everyone as soon
as I get home...if anyone wants to have me over for dinner I probably
wouldn't decline, home cooked food: Who would say no! LOL. I really
like hearing from everyone and I hope to keep getting emails from people.
Have a good new years and be safe. Call a cab! If you drink have one for
me....I like vodka screw ups. If you don't drink take care of whoever is,
whether you know them or not. We have had a couple of run ins with some
poor youngins who drank too much and lost their group and passed out on
benches and couldn't hail a cab...so we have gotten them into a cab and
hopefully they got home safely....it's better than being passed out in front
of a bar in the middle of a big place where weirdo's stare and make
comments...who knows what people would do when there was noone else
around. Whatever, Amber, your crazy! yeah I already know that...but,
someone has to be, right? We've all been there or along that road at some
point in time. Anywho, I am sure you are wondering when I am going to
shutup and stop typing.....maybe right...........just kidding, Love you all
and I will see you in 2 weeks!
Amber
