Let it dawn early!
There are two areas in the Tamil script, where simplification is possible:

1. Prepositioned vowel marks,
and, 2. Consonants with u and U vowel marks.

Present situation:

1. In Tamil, vowel marks are written to the i) left or ii) right or iii) in both sides of the consonants. In the present situation, ALL vowel marks are to be typed to the right of the consonants, which is set right in display. In VUTAM Type_As_You_Write, you need type these marks, as you normally write in paper; NHM Writer takes care of them, in a roundabout manner, to suit the present situation.
2. Tamils write the u and U vowel marked consonants, in one go. In the present situation, these vowel marks are to follow the concerned consonants for proper rendering in machines, requiring more than one go writing.

Remedy:

1) Uniscribe to be deactivated from all vowel marks.
2) Separate codes to be allotted for the u and U vowel marked consonants, written in one go.

Using simpler (unintelligent) SW, one should be able to Type_As_You_Write. NHM Writer has plenty of inbuilt intelligence. With suggested remedies, no intelligence is required.
