Born around June 1994, rescued from the Humane Society of Ottawa-Carleton April 24, 1995. After a wonderful 9 years together, she was euthanized on April 23, 2004. She had a tumour on her spleen that caused internal bleeding. Surgery and chemotherapy would have given her only another few months, and painful and confusing ones at that. Instead of seeing her die a slow death from this aggressive cancer, we opted to have her put to sleep so that she would die with the least amount of suffering, and so that we could be with her during her final moments.

She certainly wasn't the easiest dog. The abuse and abandonment she suffered during the first 9 months of her life transformed her into an ultra-protective, sometimes unpredictable pooch, at least in her younger years. For this she earned the endearing nickname "Psycho Dog"... Although she was always loving and affectionate with me, she did nip (okay, bite) a few family members and friends, either out of fear, or in an effort to "protect" me. They were never serious bites, but enough to keep people away. Her legacy lives on in my mind and my heart, and in my shirts, pants, and boots, most of which lost their buttons, zippers, and other fasteners over the years to her unsatiable appetite for non-edible things. To me she was the sweetest and most kind companion i could ever ask for. She was at the centre of my life, and may very well have become a spoiled brat because of it, but i have absolutely no complaints...hopefully she didn't either.
