Origin of the Memorial
	During the early months of 1999 on the NurseNet listserv (http://www.ualberta.ca/~jrnorris/nursenet/nn.html ), there was mention of several tragedies that had befallen Nurses. This prompted three members - Marnie Hancock, Bob McCarthy, and Naja McKenzie - to consider establishing a specific website to memorialize those Nurses that have died "in the line of nursing duty".      To this end, the Virtual Nurses' Memorial was established. You are invited to participate in this memorial by submitting additions to it of Nurses of whom you may be aware.
