A: we initially started out as a solo project for me, I was sort of bored and I wanted to write a couple songs on acoustic. The first SA song I wrote was "The One You Cannot Have", then I added a couple more people, then they quit, then I added Josh and Brian, and now we're the Suspecting Afterglow of today.
Q: so whats the punk scene like where you live?
A: miniscule to say the least. Our scene is indulged in rap-metal and metalcore. It's so lame. Though the few good punk bands around here (Lithium, Unwanted Superheroes, Don King Lives In My Backyard) do make things a bit better. I wish we have the scene that Coral Springs has, there's some good bands up there left over from the NFG phenomenon.
Q:how would you describe your band's sound?
A: it's really hard to describe. It's emo, but not quite there, it's punk, but not quite there, and it's pop, but it's not quite there. Plus, each member has their own persona. Dear god, we might be a boyband....anyhow....If I were to described it, I'd probably say acoustic geek-mo. A cross between Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, and Bright Eyes.
Q: has anything crazy happened at any of your shows? (ex: fainting fans, ice cream fights, burning rubber, etc.)
A: we had a pretty funny episode happen last night at T-Zer's, where we were playing. During one of our songs, "Silent", a couple of our friends got up in front of the stage and started slow-dancing with each other. It was disturbing considering they were both pretty big guys....
Q: what are you trying to accomplish with your music? -
A: to connect with every one of our listeners. I want for someone to be able to say, "wow, I can really relate to what he's saying", and I want it to make that person feel better.
Q: do you guys have any pre-show rituals/video games/candle burning sessions?
A: josh has to drink a slurpee, and I have to have Burger King french fries and hot water. I don't know what Brian does...
Q: what do you guys do in your spare time? -
A: write music, hang out with friends, go on the computer. The usual things a nerdy kid in their mid-teens would do.
Q: do you think girls should be in punk bands?
A: sure, power to them. I'm a fan of Josie & The Pussycats and this great all-chick band out of Orlando, FL called Ask Me Later ( www.askmelatermusic.com )
Q: what bands suck ass, and why do you think so?
A: every rap group out there, dear god, learn to write lyrics and sing. The boybands too, when they can play their own instruments and write their own music, then we'll see. who else.....who else.....oh, and Creed..................god I hate Creed..................heh, read that sentence again.....
Q: whats your favorite shoe brand?
A: i don't know, what's the brand they have at Kmart called? That one.
Q: do you plan on being on a band in the future as well?
A: Sure, absolutely.
Q: who in the band has the worst hair? -
A: brian has the whole David Lee-Roth thing going on, but he hides it under his cap all the time, so I guess me. Damn cowlicks.......
