UPDATE 3.12.02 - 5 days of lifegarding hell at mandalay bay
Alright, sorry it took so long to update the journals and whatnot. I need to get into a rhythm with them.
I think what I am going to plan on doing is updating on tuesday's and fridays. Tuesday's update will hopefullybe accomponied by pictures from the last week and a full rundown of the weekend's activities. . Next tuesday we will have new pics up for you guys ... promise .
anyway, well the last week has been pretty cool, basically dominated by the Lifegaurd training at Mandalay Bay. Last thursday we went up the street to this place called Timber's. It was their grand opening, we figured they would be firing out free drinks or something, but they weren't. pretty nice place. It has that "neighborhood bar" vibe to it, so im sure we will be there alot. The funny thing about the bars here s they never close. Like, even out here in the suburbs, the nice bar and grills on the corner NEVER CLOSE .. EVER. can roll n at 5 am get a sandwhich and a drink. very interesting.
Anyway, like the title of this journal starts to detail .... friday afternoon we started Lifegaurd training class at Mandalay Bay. if anyone has been watching the Real World, it is kinda like that. I thought it was going to be kind of a joke .... thought wrong !!! we roll up, and not but 2 minutes later, they had us in the water swimming the width of a wave pool 14 times. nearly killed us. Especially me with my bum shoulder. Like three people had to get out of the pool cause they couldn't hack it, and they got sent home. And the teachers are also kind of mean to you just like the Real World. Yelling at you and whatnot. We had to learn CPR, practice rescuing people in the water, pulling them out from the bottom of the pool without moving thier spine and stuff. Had to pass a CPR test, a Rescue test, and a written test. They've got us in the pool, and it is freezing !!!!!! man, im not sure if i really want to get in a pool for a while So, we have been there 5 days in a row now. just got done with the certification tonight. So, that is cool. I guess we will work there 4 days a week, and then hopefully score a waiting tables job out here in the suburbs. we are going to a see a lady tomorrow at a place up the street which should hopefully work out. The thing is, it will be a good deal just getting into Mandalay Bay, because there are a TON of bars and restraunts there that we might be able to get into down the line. you have House Of Blues, rumjungle, Red Square, China Grill. Plus, along with the hard rock, mandalay is like the most "happening"casino in town. but either way, we are lifegaurds now.
AS far as the weekend social life was concerned, not that crazy. friday night went to this irish bar at the Marriot up the street from our place. We went with our neihgbor Mary, who we knew before we came out to vegas. The Bar was really nice, there just wasn't anyone there for some reason. Saturday night we went to HUSh in the Polo  Towers. actually, a really cool place, just kinda chilled out, had a couple drinks.they have a pretty nice view of the strip and play cool music.  later on went to V Bar at the Venetian, which was actually very similair to HUSh. Sunday night, justin stayed in, i went up to Timber's up the street, then actually drove down to the Bellagio to try to meet up with those people i knew from Brewske's that were going to be @ Light. After standing in line for like 20 minutes, decided to pass on the 20 dollar cover. While i was inline though, i saw  marshall faulk and a dude from O-town walk out of the place. so, i guess it is a pretty happening place. Last night we went to the Beach. It is  a cool place this time of year, cause it was like all spring break kids, so pretty cool. it's the kind of bar that could be in cancun or jamaica or something, it just happens to be in vegas. after that we went to the dirt Sahara for $1 blackjack. Justin was going to teach me to play, but unfortunately the tables were too  rowded, so i just watched him play. he lost 10 bucks. anyway,
I PROMISE .. from now on, the journal will be updated on FRI and TUES ... take care and we'll have fun for ya.This week coming up should be pretty nuts with the tournament starting on thursday, st. paddy's day on sunday, and a few blues games to watch in between. alrighty, well take care, and ill talk to friday.
