| alrighty, well at this point you probably don't care what we are up to out here in Vegas because of the lackluster updating i've been doing. In the tone and spirit of a press release from a Pro-Athelete who just got a DWI; I would like apoligize to anyone i may have hurt by not updating the page. I promise to do my best to not let it happen again, and I've learned my lesson .... JK .... alright, well on to the shenanigans. where did i leave you? oh yeah, around st. patty's day. Im not a huge St. Patty's Day guy, but i figured i'd carry the torch in Vegas for the Dayton and STL kids. Anyway, went down to O'Sheas on the strip. This place is pretty cool. At the bar, their running special is $1.50 well drinks ... and of course it never closes, so it is a pretty cool place for the frugal customer. So, Mary (our neighbor) and I went there and then over to Whiskey Sky at Green Valley Ranch, that place is pretty cool, and it is one of the "happening spots" in Vegas right now. Basically, the big Club in town now is Rain @ the Palms. The Happening bar/lounges are Ghostbar, Whisky Sky, Light @ Bellagio, and I am sure some others that I haven't even heard of yet. but heh .. i've only been here a month anyway .. the next night me and justin went back to O'Shea's, and have actually been there a few times since then. So, the majority of our time since the last update has been occupied training at Ztejas. We both ended up getting jobs there, so yes, we BOTH work at Ztejas and we BOTH work at Mandalay Bay. The Mandalay Bay hasn't started yet, prolly still a couple weeks til we are "on the stand". Ztejas warned us that the training was pretty intense, and, OH .. it was. I mean, we had to learn everything on that menu pretty in-depth. It isn't a huge menu, but it has alot of stuff that we had never seen much less eaten before. Ztejas's slogan is "dining south by southwest" ... so it kind of has that southwest vibe. anyway, just a ton of stuff we had never heard of from pablano peppers to chiplote pureee to green chile mole sauce. but ... we know it now. Tuesday the 2nd of april was actually my first night working. On the social side of things, il be honest, pretty damn slow. i've been going out alone alot and ending up at jack in the box late night. a disturbing little habit that i need to put and end to. justin has been watching his money a little more than i have, so ill just roll out by myself to some bar inthe area, and hang out. There are lots of cool places around here, and once the bartender get's over the initial "this guy is by himself, he must be an alcoholic or a registered sex offender" vibe, it can be cool. The weekend after St. Patty's, Mike Mason from UD was in town, so I met him and went to Baby's at the Hard Rock on Friday night.. It was a pretty sweet place, i mean, it is totally what you think of when you picture clubs in vegas. and to this point, that is the only CLUB that either of us have gone too since we have been here. The second night Mason was in town, we went to that aformentioned O'Sheas and chilled. So, after a month of living here, our "hangouts", if you will are Timber's (up the street, and home of the $1.59 two pancake, two egg, two bacon breakfast), the Sahara (late night $1 blackjack and craps), and O'Sheas ($1.50 wells .. 24/7). This past weekend we went to Kahunaville @ Tresure Island, it is SUPER COOL. Basically, it is like Fat Tuesday, but it WORKS. they have a menu about 20 pages long of all frozen/tropical drinks and whatnot.it is the kind of place you would expect to see in key west. im sure some of you guys out there will go there with us when you come to visit. we hung out there last weekend, stayed in sunday night, and last night went to The Palms to try to go to Ghostbar, but it was too late and it was closed. But, on the upside, we did run into one of the Real World Vegas guys in the casino. cameras were scurrying behind him trying to catch his every move. im surewe will see them again, and hopefully get on the show. anwyay, update coming friday .... and i have a few new pics up on the vegas pics page .... later guys |
