It is dawn, thousands of creatures lift their bruised heads and gaze despairingly about them. They began to regroup, the survivors did, and it was a horrific sight. All about them lay their families, friends, and leaders. As the three suns rose higher into the sky, their hopes fell to the ground where they mingled with the blood of their dead. For each creature, Imp or Fey, Unicorn or griffon, Wolven or Mermaid knew that with the setting of the suns thousands more of their kind would be dead, thousands more of the ancient races would be extinct. This was the life of all creatures everywhere, and soon this to would end. Soon there would be no life anywhere. All there would be is Abisi- dark, evil, nothing. Three thousand suns have set since Abisi first touched Nalava, and it would still be one hundread sunsets until a force would be found that would be strong enough to fight the Abisi. Far away, on a distant planet, a strange creature, not Imp, but quite Impish anyway, yet not Elf either, though I am sure he was as old as one, and not Turen, though just as peaceful a creature, searched...and read...and studied...and waited. Waited as he had since the first day the suns were clouded. Waited as he had waited since that first night of total dark. He waited as he had during the days of confusion and sorrow. Waited as he had for three thousand suns. The dawn came, amd Marqualeeous opened another book, and continued his waiting. Terran peered across the small cave to where Marqualeeous sat, silently casting another spell as he reached out for yet another book. Terran had smuggled literally thousands of books into the small cave for Marqualeeous, books of all descriptions, history scrolls and comedy books and diarys, it did not matter what, for all stories, from a Comic Strip to a Holy Text had a messege...if you knew how to look at them. And Marqualeeous was one creature who knew how to look at a story. As Terran watched, Marqualeeous grunted and broke his spell."News?" He asked. Terran sighed, Marqualeeous rarley said anything unnessisary, saving his speech for his spells. "It's barley dawn as yet, how dose one expect me to bring news without taking leave?" Terran replied with a yawn. Marqualeeous gave another grunt as he reached toward a stack of papers and began to copy a paragraph from a book called "E't Abisi" or "The Darkness" " You look like you could do with some food Terran." Marqualeeous said after a moment. Terran stared back at him in shock, " Wow that's more speech out of you then I've heard in a Link, but really i'm not at all hungry." That of course was a lie. Terran was a wood nymph, he had brown skin that changed color, allowing him to hide most anywhere. His eyes were an emerald green, the same color as his hair. And at the moment he weighed about one hundread pounds less then any normal wood nymph should. " Lier" Marqualeeous breathed picking up another book. "That conversation didn't last long." Terran said as he plucked his way across a stack of books labled "E't Arke Link" or " The First Year" and out the small creavis opening that searved as their door. |
