 Ma'isah's Profile
My belly dance journey began in 1999 in New York with my beloved first teacher Safiya. Her gift to me was a strong foundation of Classical Egyptian Beledi. From this foundation, I continue to explore Gothic and Tribal Fusions. I desire above all to be a student of dance and I strive to above all dance with my heart and soul. I am known for a deeply emotive and dramatic performance, creative and technical dance skills and a true love of gothic fusion dance and music.
I have been taught by dancers such as Melusina of Underbelly, Maria Sangiorgi of Isis Dance, Layla of Egypt, Rachel Brice, Mellisa Christini of Hip to Hip and Kelly Garland of BodyWave belly Dance, and inspired by Ashara of the USA and Ariella of the USA and my idol the Egyptian Dance Legend Suheir Zaki.
Gothic fusion belly dance is an exciting constantly evolving dance form and disciple and is a very important part of my life. I want to create awareness of Gothic belly dance fusion as true belly dance art; I hope to give the profile and recognition we all deserve for the hard work and skill it takes to dance this style and be true to our art.
