Javu's Story

[Healing Den]

When things are in this color, it means that it has been done in roleplay fashion between I, Naeodin and Gil.

She's impressed! Go here to read the next part of her story....

"Javu is mine... she always has been, and she always will be. So if I were you, I'd leave. You don't know how many men... how many women, and even little kids have asked me for Javu. But she's mind. I don't share priceless people like her, and I don't give them away. So go!"

And she heard this all, all behind the wispy silk curtains, which separated the rooms. She peered through, the light shadowing the figures, yet she could no see much. As she strained her eyes, she felt the material give away, and then stared into the wide eyes of a tall man.
He sighed as he pushed the shreds of material away, and sat down in front of her on a chair. He peered at her, and shook his head. As he approached her, she shrank away from him, to the other side of the cage.
It wasn't a bad looking cage, one shaped like a normal, almost cone like shape, except it ended in a round point, and didn't go up so steeply. The bars itself seemed to be made out of gold, with tiny jewels decorating them. They glittered, and seemed to move; yet they never parted enough for a hand... for even a finger to move through. The floor was heavily decorated with cushions and carpets, silk, velvet, bright colors and muted ones, heavily embroidered ones and plain ones... they all decorated the floor.
Above, was a thick plank of marble covered in soft fur. There, lay a large bed-like cushion, with several tiny pillows, and a quilt covering it. On the other side, was a vanity, with tiny bottles of scents, and paint.
And on the highest bar, was a large tub, always enchanted to be filled with warm water. Around it, lay bottles and bags of salts and oil. The whole floor was covered in soft towels.
And between the two 'floor's', was a large golden dish split in two. In one, was cold water, with a tiny cup next to it. In the other, it was split into several levels, one filled with steaming rice, the others side dishes. The meal always changed according to the time of year, and the mood she was in. The cage wasn't small. No... actually, it was huge. After all, a creature the size of a 8 year old average girl lived in it. So it couldn't be small. And she did live in it. She had lived here all her life. But she was old... who knows how old? Time passed slowly here, with no daylight. The only light came from candles and incense.

"Ah Javu, I see you are awake? Good good. Yes, eat eat. That was another mortal coming for you. I honestly don't understand why they always do that. Well, I guess I asked for it. But all of them are so... so wrong for you."

Yes, her name was Javu. And although she lived in a cage, she wasn't trapped. No. She was a special breed who had been brought at birth by this old man. But he himself wasn't a man, but an ancient enchanter. How old he was, she didn't know. But he was old. As she herself was old, and when he had brought her, he had been ancient. They grew to respect each other, not as pet and owner, but as friends. In a way.
She lived in a large room, alone. With no other company. It was very oval, and her cage floated in the center of it. When she looked around, she saw large walls painted with pink cherry blossoms, and when she looked down, saw red and gold marble. He visited her every so often, and he floated. The only time he didn't come was when she was bathing, or sleeping. He seemed to know exactly when that was.
And he knew that although she wasn't trapped, she was lonely. So he had gone, telling the story of her, and how she was in search for a friend. But everyone who came only saw her as money. And everyone else... was just not the right person.
And when they came, he would hang a thick drapery over the cage, so that she could hear, but they could not see her.

He had bought her at a shop. The shop had been a sort of pet shop, but selling odd pets at affordable prices. But unless someone meant you to, you couldn’t find it.
And the day he had brought her to his house, he had separated her off from his other animals. It was not safe, he told her, to let her loose with the others, it would create havoc.

She sat in the bottom of the cage, and he floated near her. He sighed, and shook his head. He had never meant for this to happen. He looked up at her, rubbing his temples. She was magnificent. He knew it, and he knew that he didn’t want to let her go.

She looked to be about 8, he knew that she was ancient. Small boned, it was noy human looking, yet very human. She had a humanoid shape, with a soft, heart shaped face. Large almond shaped eyes dominated most of the pale, soft colored skin from one of her human asian ancestors. The eyes themselves were extraordinary. They had no eyelashes, no lid. No pupil, iris, or white was visible. Her eyes were dark golden bronze, and they seemed penetrate you, and devour you whole.
She had a small nose, and a full mouth. Javu had regular straight teeth, except for two sharp canine ones on the top row, and two on the bottom row. They were near the center of her mouth. And even when she had it closed, a small flash of white could be seen. Her ears were pointed like an elf. And from the lobe did a gold stud fasten a large jade teardrop.
Javu’s hair was piled high on her head. A glossy black, even the gems in her hair didn’t outshine it. As a lock of her sprang loose from its place, it fell slowly down her face, and where it grazed, the lock of hair drew blood. Her hair was straight, straight as a knives edge, and as sharp.
And from her back, were wings. White wings, feathers as soft and as light as air. Yet strong enough to support twice her weight. They were out stretched near her face, giving it a new light of innocence. But from her rear, a tail lashed. The shape and form of a lion’s tail, yet instead of soft hair at the end, it grew thick and brittle. Ending in a soft point, which could draw enough blood to fill a palm with in a second.
Yet it was her skin, which was the most extraordinary. Soft and supple, like an ordinary human being. Yet when she was frightened or enraged, they stiffened. And one could truly see that this wasn’t skin, but scales. Such tiny scales, that they looked and felt like skin. Leaned forwards from the pillows, her wings extended, she made her way towards the bars, and held onto them with soft, supple human hands.
She was very human looking, just hide the wings, tail, and her eyes, and she could pass for an ordinary Asian girl. And it was a gift she could do. But ordinary she was not. She was a dangerous creature, yet so innocent, so trusting. It made the enchanter’s heart weep.
Apart from her looks, she was a girl with many talents. She could create an illusion around her to hide her wings and tail. She couldn’t hide her eyes, but a veil usually accomplished it.
Her eyes helped her see in the dark, as if it was light. She could make out figures behind cloth, but that was the best she could do when it came to the drapery that covered her cage at times. Her ears helped her make out clearly the muffled sounds, even figure out a small whisper.
She could not burn things; she could not move things around with just a thought. She couldn’t kill anyone, nor bring him or her back to live. But sometimes, her voice could make someone faint. Make someone go mad.
Her voice was soft, yet filled with volume. Gentle, yet as strong as iron. She would speak to someone, but then, her words would echo. So that they would hear it through their ears, and through their minds. Sometimes, that was too much for a single person. So she had the habit of thinking her thoughts to someone. It was safer, much safer that way.

But why would see create havoc, if she was with others? It was her aura.... or something like an aura. Every living creature had one. Maybe not like hers. Hers... instead of wearing it around her like a cloak, it vibrated and moved. As if it had a mind of its own. Touching, tasting, slipping into another's aura. She controlled it now. But through strong emotions, it went wild. She used it to check up on someone. To see who they were. An invasion of privacy perhaps. But a skill that was important. No one got hurt. No one felt the touch of another's mind. Another's aura.
But through strong emotions, even weak emotions, whether controlled or wild, the emotion would travel in the air. The aura itself would travel, carrying the emotion, passing it around. So that others felt it as well. But to them, it was not called the aura, but a stronger form. An aura, yet with so many more functions. And yet less. They were called Jira

It was morning when it happened, Javu awoke, feeling herself grow. If that was the word. She felt as if she would burt through her skin, and as her breaths became shallower, she tried to contain the sudden anger. She felt angry, such pure, undeniable rage that it shook through her. As her Jira tensed, it seemed to go red in color, vibrating the air itself, until bit by bit, the whole room seem to swim.
With a burst of enegry, Javu took hold of the Jira, and flung it away. She felt... no, she heard it pass through the walls, felt others react to the sudden violence in the air...
Yet it was not over, it was then that she felt the sudden urge to... destruct. With a snarl, she reached for a small bottle of oil, and flung it against the side of the cage. She had to out! She had to run... fly, just... escape!! As she felt the violent needs run through her, she felt herself grow... stronger, more bolder. With that, she let out a thundrous snarl for the world to hear.

The cool bars of Javu's cage vibrated as the glass shattered against them, a soft voice called out to Javu, seemingly coming from the bars themselves. The voice had an undefineable tone to it, neither male nor female.
"Javu, why are you disturbed child?"

Javu snarled, her golden bronze eyes flitting around the room. She tensed up, and her tail poised to strike. And as she stiffened, her scales became more apparant. It was not every day she heard a voice. The only voice she heard was either hers, or her Masters.
"Do I not have the right to be disturbed?" she damanded, unaware at where the source of the voice was. Her voice was soft, with a slight asian accent to it, it was strong, and she spoke out loud, forgetting what her voice could do to others. It effected everyone, from the smallest human, to the largest immortal. Only her, and her Master were uneffected.

The vibration of the bars stopped suddenly and a slender figure stepped from the shadows at the back of the cage. It had long and dark flowing hair, and the innocent but scarred face of a young girl. Javu tensed, yet relaxed at the same time, watching. Yet in the eyes we a peculiarity so strange, they were not the eyes of any mortal being. Its frame was not that of a man or a woman. Its skin was pale and marred in many places. And yet it was beautiful... Javu shook her head at the though. Beauty, what was it, when you had nothing in sight that was ugly?
"Your anger is like a sword to my soft flesh, and your words mar me with their bitterness. Yes Javu, you have a right to be disturbed, but you have also disturbed me, and I am come to discover what now bothers you."

Javu tensed, her wings wrapping around her quickly, as if to defend herself. Her wings created a soft white look to her, to translucent, yet so thick... As she watched it, her smile turned grim. This... creature was not effected by her voice. It could only signify some sort of God... or someone so old, they heard voices like hers often. Her wings unfurled themselves, stretching to their largest, and as the jewels in her hair came unbound, they fell in small clutters around her feet. And as she turned to watch the creature, and as her hair fell in place around her face, streaks of blood appeared where her own hair had harmed her. She didn't wince, pain was nothing, when you have lived as long as her. Yet intense longing...
"What could not bother me?" she asked, her voice humorless, her eyes empty. "What would not bother me, when I am a danger even to myself? When all my life, I have lived alone? Unable to see anyone because of the danger I could be to them?" her voice rose. "And you ask what could bother me?"
The words were spoken quietly, yet they seemed to ring. The whole room seemed to absorb the words, as it had absorbed the creatures.

It cringed and a line of care suddenly appeared on Its worn face. Then a slow smile spread across Its face. "You see me do you not? And your exsitance here in front of me is a danger unto my health, but I do not fear you. I have come of my own will to see you, and I will be your companion." It stretched out a hand to Javu. "Please, be still."
Javu watched the line appear on the creature's face, and the hand stretched out. It seemed to be the link between two different beings. And she watched for a moment. She felt hesitant, this was the first creature to offer comfort, to offer herself to something like her. Yet she was curous as well.
"And why is my existance a danger to your health?" she asked softly. The wings settled, the jewels rose and held her hair up again, and she watched. As her scales blended, she seemed the average 8 year old girl.

"Your anger is destructive, it hurts me, tearing a wound in my heart. Yet as you take the gift that I bring you, the scars of your hatred begin to heal." Even as It spoke the line of care began to disappear. "I am, and there is no other, violence is my destruction, but your calm is my delight. I am that which was, and what will be, I am now what you see."

Javu watched the line disappear, and couldn't shake off the feeling of uneasiness. "If my calmness is your delight, why does it not heal your other scars?" her voice was mildly curious, as she looked around her. Settling herself in a small cushion, yet not making a dent, she motioned for the creature to do the same.
"If you are here on your own will, what will happen if your will calls you to someone else?" she tilted her head, and watched distracted, as a pot, two cups, and the accesories came floating their way. She could not control them, yet they had the right to move. Her Master had enchanted them, so that she would not have to lift a finger. She looked distracted as she fiddled around, yet when she looked up, her eyes were hard. She wanted to much to have a companion, someone who would not get hurt, someone who understood... the Master was her only friend, and she was grateful. Yet often... she wondered of her past, her family. What was she? Who was she? Would she ever find out? She looked at the creature, yet there was suspicion in her voice as she spoke.
"Would you give up your companionship to me, for delight from someone else?"

It sat quietly on the floor beside Javu. "I am here, and I am there. I will only leave if you make me." And Javu suddenly... seemed to want to run up to the creature for a hug. It watched the things cups and other things as the floated calmly through the air. "I delight in many things, and I stay where I am loved."

Javu watched. "Its green tea, would you like some?" she asked. Then she thought. "And when one does not know what love is, as one has not felt love? Nor hate to compare it to?" she smiled. "You will stay" It was not a question, nor a command. But a statment. She knew this creature would stay, she knew she wanted the creature to stay. Master would be delighted!

It thanked Javu for the tea and stretched Its legs out a little. Long, thin legs, pale and scarred. "Yes, I will stay." And the creature too, seemed to understand the unspoken agreement.

Javu looked around, and watched the curtains shift. Peering, she saw her Master standing there, and smiled at him. The creature glanced at the Master and shuddered slightly. "He is cold... I know him, he is like me somehow, yet different." It spoke to Javu softly. Javu listened, yet could not believe it. She... cared for this man, as he cared for her.
The Master paused, and his smile thinned slightly as he looked over. Javu tilted her head, and watched.

"I've... I've found a companion." she said softly, and that brought his attention back to her. He frowned, and watched, then reached forwards to touch her forhead, as if he would read her thoughts. He nodded, and turned to the creature. "We meet again." he said softly.

The creature looked away. "I do not come for you. I am not yours to trap. I am a free bird, and no bars will hold me now." The cage vibrated again, though more violently than they had when the creature first appeared. "Leave us Lord, I ask you."

The Master smiled, yet it was cold, and Javu shivered. This was not the man she knew! "It has been a long time, and I have given up my.... practices. Javu is mine Selah, yet she chose you as her companion...." he seemed amused. "No... I will not leave you, but you will leave me." As he said that, he disappeared, leaving Javu a message. "Until we meet again."

Selah stared off into space, having no reply to the Master. He was gone anyway.

Javu turned, and watched Selah. "Your name, is Selah?"

Meanwhile, in a different world, a world where soft, lilting tunes played all day long under the moon, where people walked on air, their feathers carrying them, in a world where fantasy was reality, there stood a temple. And with in the temple, was a man, and a woman. Both were exotically asian, with odd colored eyes, and wings of white feather behind them. Hers were a bright, electric blue, while his was a subtle gold. Yet as they stared in horror at the man in front of them, both pairs of eyes flashed with anger.

"Are you telling me, you sold my little daughter?" her voice was rather high pitched, yet it was expected as tears ran down her face. "I left her with you to protect father, and you sold her? To an enchanter? Do you know what enchanters do to our kind?" she let out a disgusted laugh. "Yet you didn't care enough to protect your own grandchild... your only grandchild."

She hissed, and her pale ivory skin stiffined into scales. Her hair was piled high up in her head, and she dressed in red silk with gold embriodery. No expenses had been spared for her, the daughter of the Jindra, who was equivalenth to a medicine man.

"She could still be safe. When you gave her to me, and you disappeared, how was I to know, you would return? You left a new born child in my arms, and for 18 thousand years I waited. She 3, and her future was read. Mikar, it was a good thing I gave her away! She was to be trouble. An enchanter, you don't know who he is, he is a legend himself. He offered to buy her, to train her when she was of age." he protested.

"But father, you knew that we age slowly. To be of age to train in any craft, we must be 96 thousand years old. She was only... only 18 thousand years old when you gave her away. She has never known family, never known love. Was she to grow up a recluse? You know the power we have, she would have gone crazy without proper guidence!"

He shuddered. "Child, you do not know her. Your daughter is stronger then she looks, much stronger. She is very powerful, more then you were, probably twice. Haven't you felt the sudden change in the air? It feels more tense, angry. People on Earth, and other mortals are starting to sense the anger. Countries are going in war."

The man nodded slowly. "Yet they are not, why?"

The man laughed humourlessly. "It is Selah, child. Selah has found our little darling. Yes, he told me himself. It seems that your daughter is very strong. At the young age of 42 thousand, she manages to bring so much anger into this world, it brought Selah itself from its hiding place. They are companions now." he chuckled bitterly. "It is ironic, is it not?"

The woman paled. "Anger? She wields anger?"

Each of them had the powe to wield a emotion. If you were very strong, and emotion. Most could only control objects. Yet Mikar the mother came from a very strong blood line, and so did Jaru, the father. To control an emotion, was one thing. Yin and Yang, was equal. So were they. If one could control fear, another would control the equal amount of hope. Yet they were never of the same race. Mikar controlled hope, and Jaru controlled happiness through their Jira. Everyone learnt at the age of 96 thousand, and someone would balance their power. Often, the equal sides met, but it was rare. It only happened it the power was strong. Often, if it was too strong, they had to be together to balance.
And to hear that a young baby of 42 thousand years could weild anger, was... terrifying.

The man gave out a sharp bark of laughter. "Anger, Rage, Fear, Destruction, Genocide. The Oracle was right when he said that you two should not marry. You have created War itself, and from such a tender age." he shuddered.

If her power was great enough to summon Peace itself...

Jaru paled. "Father, I honor your wisdom, yet it is time we go to see our young baby again."

The woman nodded with determination. It was finally time.

Javu opened her eyes slowly, and yawned. She looked around, and smiled peacefully as she spotted Selah. It was day three of their companionship, and Javu already felt as if she had known this creature for all of her life. As she stretched, she frowned... something, was not quite right... looking around, she let out a small squeak when she spotted two people... like her, watching from below. One was female, with ice blue eyes, and the other male. The woman was crying, and the man comforting her.

"Poor baby... stuck in some sort of horrible cage." she wailed. "My little baby is trapped!"

Javu peered down, suddenly aware that Selah wasn't there any more. She must have left her to give her some privacy.

Javu watched as two strangers made their way towards the cage. She felt... frightened, yet calmed... these people looked like her, and the woman seemed so lonely. Then she remembered... she remembered her past, her family, her life before she had come to live with the Master. The first 18 thousand years of her life... Momma? she asked hesitantly. She remembered these people... but she wanted... she wanted... she... didn't know any more.

Selah had hurriedly left the cage when Javu's parents had arrived. Selah's presence could still be felt, as if the air had absorbed It, and the creature was breathed instead of seen. The cage began to vibrate again, and to ring like hammers. The tone was deffening. The bars were evaporating into the air like liquid gold. Everything around the cage was blurry, and then the cage simply vanished.

Javu watched, watched the cage disappear, and felt... sad. She felt sad, so sad... but she just shook her head. It was then her parents ran to her, hugging her, whispernig sweet nothings into her ear... and she felt angry. So angry, that she felt has if she would explode and break into a million pieces. so she let her anger out, released her will and just let the anger flow.... heeee!

The ring of the cage returned, and with a bang the bars returned - more solid than ever. Selah sat in the corner on a cusion, staring off into who knows where. Now they were all inside the cage... The ringing continued, though softer than before, almost melodic. Selah had turned her attention to Javu, staring intently at her angered friend.

Javu snarled, and for a split second she... didn't look human, more like a monster with fangs. And her parents... thought her eyes gleamed red, and they looked at each other worridly. Were they too late? Javu looked around, her wings flared and her eyes gleaming... then they caught hold of Selah, and behind it.... her master.

Selah -the creature- shivered when It felt the Master's presence. Still holding Its gaze to Javu, trying to maintain Its power and virtue. A tears danced in Selah's eyes, they glowed dimly, drawing in the light and filling with joy and sorrow... and fear.

Javu paused, her eyes flitting between Selah and her Master. She paused, and sighed with defeat, but not before letting out one more burst of hate and anger. Her parents paled, and her Master nodded with satisfication, Yet it was Selah that she was watching... and Selah's reaction, which she was fearing... in a way. Calming down, she looked up defiantly. "Master?" she asked, wanting to know what he was doing here. He paused, and blinked, transporting himself into the cage, so that they were all inside.

Selah did not move. Did not blink. Did not say a word, but stared intently at Javu: waiting, calmy, quietly, waiting... Drawing in, 'listen' Like a whisper in Javu's ear, but not truly audible. 'breathe'

Javu paused, and turned to Selah. She was calm, she was in control of her self now... she looked up at her parents, who looked down at her with a .... sense of fear. She looked over at her Master who opened his mouth to speak. "It is time." but then she realised that Master was not speaking to her, not to her parents.., but to Selah.

"Selah... do you remember the first time we met?" The Master purred. "Do you remember the first time you ran away?" His eyes glinted, and he... seemed to change, seemed to grow younger. He was tall, with pale skin and curling black hair. His cornflower blue eyes were dangerous looked... he was the angel in dreams, yet such terrible one. "do you remember.. the first time I had to harm you?"

Selah did not move. The ringing increased. The air compressed. Silence. Still Selah did not move... BANG! White: blank and eternal. Silent but for the thrumming like a heart-beat. Selah, Javu, and the Master, with the emptiness. Selah was watching Javu, The Master was fixed upon the creature, and Javu watched them both; looking at each other; through each other; beyond... The thrumming stopped; the air stiffled. Breath was gone... Time waited for Selah's reply... "No." With a whirling sound like the ocean tide the color flooded back.
The Master smiled, such a slow, delighted smile that is sent shivers up Javu's spine. He looked at Selah, and then let the colors disappear, no... they did not disappear, they were there, but not visible. It was black, yet light. The absence of color WITH color. Javu shivered, when she felt the very air around her disappear, she could breath, she moved her finders and knew she would run... but something was missing.... Ah, it was life. "If you do not remember..." the Master purred. "Then let me help you remember." the colors flooded back, but not the way Javu remembered them... she realized, they had blended, and watched with horror as something... no, Selah, as pictures formed in Selah's eyes, windows to her memories... something her Master had opened for Selah to remember. The memories didn't stop, they flooded into Selah's head, with the soft seductive voice of the Master purring remember the thrill? the pain? the pleasure?

The tears in Selah's eyes burst like thunder-clouds. The creature's lips parted, as if to speak, or to scream. No sound escaped. Then Selah faded, to nothing, and was gone. The darkness took shape, forming itself into something - another creature: Anaineo. "You push your limits Massster..." This creature laughed with delight. "Selah has left. Now it's just you and me, and..." the creature looked at Javu and laughed. "Shall we play?"

Javu watched cooly. Something... someone... no, her, something was changing. Peace had been Hate and Anger's equal. IF Peace was not around... then Hate and Anger had to disappear for the moment as well. Yin was Yang after all. Javu raised an eyerbrow, and the Master watched with anticipation as Javu arched her head backwards and.... and like a snake, split open..... In her place, was... Javu, but different. This was older, more mature, physically and mentally. She was taller, with curves under the oriental chinese dress, and flowing black hair... which seems to have a life of its own. Medusa in a way, and she smiled, making the last traces of the old Javu disappear. In its place was.... "Call me.... Amardeus." she purred. "Amardeus... darling." she drawled. The master watched, his eyes gleaming. This was all part of a huge plan too big for words... but for the moment, would it work?

Anaineo -darkness, fluid and whole. The same mystery as Its counter-part. No more gender-percievable than Selah, and all the more intriguing. The creature stared intently at the Master, "Shall we dance? We've danced before, remember how fun it was?" It spoke in smooth, silky tones. Its eyes were lit with fire and Anaineo grabbed the Master's hand. "The Polka? I dearly love that one!" With the flash of the creature's eyes flames flared from the blackness and the sound of rumbling like mountain boulders surrounded them. "Triad!" It whispered with delight and pulled Amardeus into the flames. "Daanccccccce!"

The Master started to laugh, it was a laugh of evil, such pure undeniable evil, and pleasure. "It was fun, wasn't it Nai?" he said fondly, calling her by her pet name. "The Polka? As you wish." he smiled, and leaned forwards to whisper into her ear, sweet nothings... except they were a different kind, memories from the past. As Amardeus was pulled, she let out a soft sigh, yet it was with anticipation. She stroked Anaineo on the chin, like you would do for a cat... if it had a chin. Amardeus leaned back, and let out a chuckle. "ITs so... fun to be alive." she said, and giggled because it sounded so ironic. "Now to show my appreciation..." Amardeus leaned forwards, until she was only a breath apart of Anaineo, and smiled, before deepening a kiss.... A kiss... which poured live into the others mouth, into the others soul, a kiss which filled the other with passion and life... something Anaineo had no real recognition of. As she felt Anaineo fill up, she smiled and leaned back. Experimenting was... fun.

Anaineo froze, and let the Master spin outside of the flame. The blackness enveloped him. The blackness shriveled away: the dance was over. ~~~~~ The cage... Selah was on the cushion, still staring at Javu. The Master was gone. All else was the way it had been, the way it should have been. "Do you see?" The voice entered Javu's mind again. "listen" Everything was as it had been left. Only peace was now undisturbed. "What's on the outside? Is the inside all it should be?" Selah smiled and rose, gliding like a river across the floor of the cage. "Walk with me." She held out her hands, like when she had first arrived, and waited for Javu to accept.

Javu watched, Javu remembered, but Javu froze. She turned her head slightly to one side, and looked down. Her parents... she looked around bewildered, and realized that they had disappeared.
Selah waited, a vision of serenity. Many of her scars had faded, but new ones now took their place, though in smaller number. She was beautiful, just as before. Who knows what took place in the world while they were gone? Time has its own way of changing things "Take my hand."

Javu looked up, her eyes cool. Hatred, Anger, Passion, Life... all these things... she got up slowly, and stretched out her own hands. "No... take mine." she said.

Selah laughed and took Javu's hand gently. "Now you have begun to see." Then without looking back she led her friend through the bars. "They weren't real... but then, you knew that." They floated through the walls, passed rows of cages, where other creatures had been held. They were all empty now. The pair of uniquely mysterious friends found themselves on the side of a hill. It was bright here, and beautiful. This was peace. Javu's parents were sitting on the hill, not far away. They were looking out over the landscape with tears in their eyes. "It is this, or what you left behind..."
