Dezso Kachina… catcher of the dreams… dream catcher. She had been named that after her parents, Nirha Nevbu and Mark had seen her potential to become a passionate young later who would do anything to get what she wanted. The trio lived at Vella Crean, one of the few places that was known for their oddities. But they weren’t odd… well, they didn’t look odd anyway. After all, with those split personality girls, vampires, and even a few two headed dragons, a brown eyed, blonde girl was nothing. Especially if she kept to herself, as Dezso Kachina did.
Her father was Marcus, one of the only true Earthlings at the Vella Crean. He had been a scientist before, having received a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He had been 38 when he and her mother had met during a speech made by a professor, and her mother 36 –or so she says-. They had one child nine and a half months later, Dezso Kachina.
Her mother was rather human as well, with blonde hair and odd brown eyes. She was small boned, with a ready smile for everyone, and a kind word. But there was something… odd about Dezso Kachina, the way she seemed to disappear during a rainy day, the way she never went in the water, the way she become… splotchy during a humid day, like she was going to melt any second.
It had been 7 years since they had arrived at the Vella Crean, they lived in a small house near the Sands, on the other side of the lake. It was a rather large place, three stories, with the upper to floors being all bedrooms. Some people say it was haunted, so sometimes they heard laughter, and odd… screeching sounds coming from the house. But they ignored it, it had been 6 years since they had accepted the odd yet normal trio with open arms, and the one thing the Vella Creans didn’t like to do… was to go back on their word, promise, and welcomes.
“Dezzy, this is honestly the last time! I cannot support all of you! Although we can live without paying, and although I only need to help out with experiments…” Mark ran his fingers through his hair. “This is incredibly hard for me to see Dezzy Darling, but enough is enough.”
Dezso Kachina leaned back against the wall with an arrogant arch to her eyebrow. “Its Dezso Kachina.” She said curtly. “And are you saying, you won’t accept any more of your grandchildren?”
Mark let out a growl with frustration. “That’s not what I meant, and you know it. I love my grandkids, and I would do anything for them. Its every mans dream to have many grandchildren… or at least its mine. But this is enough! Ever since you turned 16, you had been giving birth every 10 months. Don’t you get sick and tired of it?”
Dezso Kachina snarled back and for a moment… her eyes turned bronze. “My kind are suppose to reach sexual maturity at the age of 16, what do you expect? I’m 19 now dad, I’ve only given birth 3 times! Mom told me its normal, but I’ve just got a bigger drive that she does.”
Mark glared at his daughter. 6 kids from 3 births, and that’s not it either. 7 kids from other births. Why couldn’t you tell me…”
“That our kind could switch genders? Yes, that is 13 kids. 7 of them come from other women, and I helped out at birth as well.” She rolled her eyes. “You have got to get use to it!”
“You know… it is every mans dream to end up with a wife who is crazy about him, and a loving daughter… yet your so young!”
“But only by human terms.” She inturrupted. “And our kind has been given to give births to twins and triplets.”
“With wings, horns, violet hair, claws, and tails?” he asked, he sighed.
“Do they know?”
“That I am not human? Of course they do. Dad, I’m not loose. Each time… I do fall in love, even if its just for an instant. And I love my kids dad, that’s why I don’t want to have to give them up. Sure, some of my… partners return the feeling, so I still visit them every so often, but its just not…. They offer every time they find out, they stand by and hold my hand… but they are mine, and no one…” she snarled. “Is going to change that.”
“I know that now…” he sighed. “I guess I’m still not… used to this.” He chuckled. “I’m just human, remember?”
Dezso giggled, the fight was over. She smiled… and it was time she paid lover boy another visit.
She was outside, looking around, admiring the the Hold, when with a clash of thunder, rain started to pour. She cursed vividly, and ran inside... but it was too late, because the rain had already done its damage. I come to pay lover boy a visit, and look what happens? she thought furiously.
As she entered, people gave her double glances, and even triple. But it wasn't every day a normal looking girl started to melt, revealing a... a... well, her.
She was about 6"5, and womanly in figure. She had a nose, lips, two eyes, and four limbs. But that was probably all that was... human about her. Her eyes were large and almond shaped, and... glassy. They had no real pupil, no iris. It was like a dragons eye from Pern, but more... richer, and one color. Her eyes seemed to be a think coating of vivid bronze/gold, with darker depths in the middle. Filling up most of her face, the had no eyelids, and no eyelashes... if eyes were suppose to be the windows to our souls, well... hers was definatly angry. They seemed to flash, sending sparks... in a way, as they glittered with pale fire, as if lit from the inside.
Her nose was rather human, straight and narrow with a slightl flare at the nostrils. Her lips were full, and as she looked around with a worried grin, it revealed two sharp canine-like teeth on the top row, and on the bottom. Her face was slightly oval, and at the same time, heart shaped.
She was slender, with arms, elbows, and human hands. Her hands were rather small, with tapered fingers and shortly cut nails. She stood on hindlegs rather then feet, because while her thighs were human, near the knee, instead of bending forwards they bent back, and her bottom half didn't seem so human anymore, with paws instead of feet.
Her hair, was... odd. It went down to midback, and it started at the base of her head looking quite hair-like, yet then it seemed to turn into... milk, as it tumbled down her shoulders in a liquidy way, so that if you touched it, you'd come away with thick white liquid. And it never stayed still, yet moved as if it had a life of its own. The color itself, was odd. White, but not just white. White was suppose to be a mixture of all colors, and black the absence of colors. White meant albino, pale, yet her hair was as vibrant as red, yet without the red. It was bright, thick, and dark. If white could be dark.
She didn't have fur, but skin. Yet from her back, stripes ran towards her front, like a tiger with thick markings. Yet instead of thinning out and disappearing, it thickened, so that just under the swell of her breasts, and down to her legs, her coloring was different, yet now... it wasn't like skin, but like fur, yet not furry. The markings were a thick, runny gold color like her eyes, and it looked as if someone had painted it on her, so that it seemed... metallic under the light.
"The illusions never work under the influences of rain... and I've got to dry all this stuff off before starting all over again!" she snarled, angry at the sky. Of all days to rain, why now?! "I have to talk to mother about this, its just not right!"
She rolled her eyes. Mom was top illusionist, she could control her self during the harshest of conditions. I guess I'm not the right person to do this sort of stuff. she told herself sadly. She looked around, and felt herself blush at the curious eyes. She loved attention, but not when she was dripping all over their floor.
So she set out to find some towels, having too much pride to ask someone, and spotted a door in a corner. As she pushed it open...
