Jeanson should confess

Jack Todd

C'mon, Genevieve Jeanson. Give it up. Come clean. Quit pretending you're innocent as the driven snow.

After a while, Jeanson's many explanations of her many brushes with doping issues just don't wash. There is one explanation why Jeanson tested positive for EPO last summer and received a lifetime ban for doping : Because she was doping. After a while, all these dog-ate-my-homework excuses that athletes like Jeanson come up with just don't wash.

So she tested negative 60 hours later. So what ? That's part of what athletes love about EPO : It flushes out of the system so quickly.

Mind you, if Jeanson is to blame her coach, Andre Aubut shares double the responsibility. It's time every sports federation in the world brought in this rule : If a coach's athlete tests positive for doping, the coach is suspended as long as the athlete is out.

In Aubut's case, this would mean that he shares her lifetime ban.
