Bits, Burmese male gerbil for adoption in Texas, adopt gerbils, gerbil rescue
Blackie, male gerbil for adoption in Houston Texas, gerbils rescue
Bits, male Burmese born 7.06 and Blackie, born 6.06
Bits was adopted from a local shelter along with his mom, Bess, and other four siblings. Bess was dumped already pregnant with another litter and had been left in with her pups, which produced yet another litter days after I brought her home!
Blackie came along for adoption with Peeper #2 as cagemates for Snapple, after Peeper the Original died due to fighting injuries. Blackie was never handleable and Bits was introduced by split cage, resulting in a broken tail for Blackie and a leg injury to Bits. With more secure screening and patience, they are now the best of buddies and would like an adult home that appreciates their handsomeness and cardboard shredding abilities but respects their distaste of handling. I'll probably have these guys for their lives due to their needs and that's okay too.
Zoot, male pied dove gerbil for adoption, gerbil rescue
Zoot, pied dove male, born ? 11.06
Must be adopted with Wally, solid lilac male born? 5.06
Zoot and Wally were both given to me by chain pet stores after they were considered unsaleable. Zoot was about 8 weeks old and wouldn't stop escaping the backroom where he was waiting to go on display, leaving him running about the store in peril on any given day. Wally was already mature, at least 8 months or more, and was forced to sit alone in a tank because he didn't sell. They were introduced in a split cage and bonded quickly, though they need an adult home that understands Wally's penchant for being suspicious about fingers in his cage. If he is immediately given a cheerio, he'll run off but he has nailed me on the finger, more of a warning bite than an all out assault like Blackie wages.

Whitey Whiskers, red eyed white female, born ? 5.06
Granny, lilac female, born ? 1.06
Granny and W.W. were found in seperate cages at the SPCA and I suspect that Granny may be W.W.'s mom, as they immediately took a liking to each other and were only split caged for a day or two. Granny has a stumpy tail and looks a little ragged at times, leading me to believe she's a bit mature but still full of life. W.W. runs up her ladder to the second floor balcony I made her every time I enter the room, hoping for a cheerio. They enjoy chewing cardboard and treats and spend most their time napping from what I've seen. They can be held without nipping and are laid back.
