Andal Thirukovil Mahasamprokshanam

The Mahasamprokshanam of the Andal Thirukovil and the Vatapatrasayi Thirukovils was performed in a grand manner amongst the august presence of the major Pontiffs of Srivaishnava mutts at Srivilliputtur on 10,FEB 2000 More than 2 lakh devotees were reported to have witnessed the samprokshanam of both the thirukovils.The samprokshanam of the Andal Thirukovil took place at 8:45 am which was followed by that of the Vatapatrasayi thirukovil at 9:55 am.

The Thiruppani (renovation) works were planned on a large scale for the Mahasamprokshanam.Some of the important works among them were for the Thiruppavai Vimanam(Nachiar ThiruKovil),Nachiar kovil Mahamandapam,Vahanams,Nachiar kovil outer prakaram,Nachiar kovil small gopuram,Vatapatrasayi kovil Moolasthanam, Periyazhwar ,Udayavar and Nammazhwar sannidhi.

With the completion of the thiruppani works the temples have a fresh look inviting more and more devotees to have a splendid sevai of Andal ,Rangamannar and Periyaperumal The last Samprokshanam was performed in the year 1946 for the Vatapatrasayi temple and in 1970 for the Andal Temple.The total expenditure for the thiruppani(renovation) works and Mahasamprokshanam was estimated at 1.5 crore.
