Strong Lord Of The Water, Powerfull Sceptre Of The Wawes! |
||||||||||||||||
Ahti, The King of waters, is the size of a massive man, pale and gentle-eyed. Usual clothing does not uncover his high status, but is very usefull. Shirt, weavet of watergrass and reedpants hide him well from human eyes when he examines his kingdom from bulrushes. When he leaves the shores he usually entwines himself in a coat, that wawes like the water around him. Men in a boat don't even know about his presence, as they see only the water foaming against their bow.
But Ahti doesn't allways hide himself from people. When he happens to be in good mood he allso dresses himself like a King, and walks to the ground to meet people. Many passionate fisherman who sit at the fire waiting for the best fishingseason to start, have faced a gorgeous revelation.-A massive man walking to the firelight, black hair waving against broad back, that is covered with waterblue royal cloak. Silvery shells decorate the hems, golden scales around his neck and pearls shine on the folds of the cloak. Ahti have come to show his goodness and promise fisherman's luck. And he will keep the promise. You will probably get more than one can clean.
If you want to make sure your fisherman's luck will be good in the future, allways remember to give some of your catch back to Ahti. The first fish you get, or some of the food you make of fish. Do it allways before you have tasted it yourself. Leave a plate on the shore and call Ahti for lunch. Then leave the place and let him eat in peace.
Wice fisherman allways remembers to greet Ahti before pushing his boat on the water. Waterfolks pershiade good manners and most of all, a polite greet, and it is not much to do for a safe journey and nice fairwind.
But the waterking, who shows himself to people, does not allways smile. If he appears looking wild and eyes black and deep like the deepest swamps, you can be sure you have angered the Lord Of Waters. Think what you have done! Did you keep too much noice? Did you curse? Did you fight with your fisherfriends? Or maybe you have build a new jetty, without Ahti's permission and to cross his path? Angry waterking can be made pleased with gold and silver. Expencive but profitable, becouse his punishment can be much worse than poor catch. |
