Disc Three

You've come a long way now, and the adventure is just about over. There is one major conflict one. As you go into it, it seems appropriate to contemplate all you've experienced, the close calls, the journey across a vast world full of intrigue and betrayal, the sacrifices your entire group has made, and the moments of pure wonder. Now that all rolls together into one last fantastic trip into the bowels of the planet to find one of the ones responsible for it all, that menace known only as Sephiroth...

The Crater

There is really little need to describe this in detail, as most of it is self-explanatory. First, of course, you have to arrive. The barrier that was around the Crater for most of the second disc should have disappeared, so now you can fly and land. Decide your main group, and then pretty much just stick with it. As you descend, you will find several places where you can switch members, but I prefer to use the same group the entire way through (because, as it happens, I had basically only raised the levels of about three characters).
There are several items throughout, of course, and you should collect them. The final save point in this dungeon is one on light tan rock, around a ring of greenish light that leads down to Sephiroth. Save there and you won't have to work through here every time you get a wild idea and decide to play through the last battle with Sephiroth again...
Also, remember that you can leave this place to collect items at any time, but it makes more sense to collect everything before coming down here (leaving can be even more confusing than entering).
Another note: sometimes the pathways you can take are a little unclear. To solve this, press the "select" button to bring up red pointers that let you know where a doorway lies that you might not have seen before.
And finally, the battle with Sephiroth is going to be tough... really tough. Many players can't beat him until they have either levelled up to extremes, or have acquired the Knights of the Round summoning spell. I suggest the latter. To get that, you'll need to take a golden chocobo to the upper right section of the map, where there's a small island that only the chocobo can reach. For full details, either look at the FAQs section, or check out the section for Items.
Sephiroth is a tough guy, but you can beat him. Find strategies in the Bosses section. Good luck!
