Borne Gigi Devalier, in the year 1843, she is the illegitimate child of Aimee Devalier and Manuel DuBois Sr, She was raised in the DuBois household, where her mother was employed as a Lady's Maid, she grew up with Manuel Jr and was later given to his wife as gift. She spent many years serving as Lady Elizabeth's personal maid. Throughout her childhood, she was always attracted to Manuel Jr, and him to her. They had a very strange relationship and could often be found "playing strange games" as one nanny described it. As they grew older, their attraction deepened, but were really never able to do anything about it, because of their stations in life. After Manuel Jr and Lady Elizabeth were married, Manuel carried on his affair with Gigi, going as far to plot the murder of his wife so he would be free to marry Gigi. In subsequent days, Gigi went through with the plan, and by the end of the week, Lady Elizabeth was dead, Manuel disappeared, leaving Gigi to hold the smoking gun, so to speak.
Scared out of her mind, Gigi fled her native France, and the law that was now looking for her. She made her way to England, where she stumbled upon Hartman House, and thought she was safe there. Manuel reappeared in her life, only to disappear again. Now she finds herself wandering the countryside of Cotswold, Hartman House a distant memory. Still at run from the law, she does her best to avoid inspectors lest she be recognized. Finding herself at the home of the McCody's, former guests of Hartman House, she gets a job there, and hopefully her life back into order. |
