WELCOME TO DR. BILL'S SITE.
VITAMIN DEFICIENCY AND ANEMIA.
There are two major types of anemias associated with vitamin deficiencies. One is the small cell type (microcytic), and the other is the large cell type (macrocytic).  Microcytic anemia is almost always associated with an iron deficiency. However, microcytic anemia can also be seen with deficiencies of Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, or Vitamin C. Macrocytic anemia is often seen with deficiencies of folic acid or Vitamin B12. Check out your diet for balance and consult your physician for the appropriate blood tests to rule out deficiencies. Most importantly, do not simply take vitamin supplements unless you are under doctors care, as excesses can be just as dangerous to your health as deficiencies.
