Light

Sunlight I send to you

golden, transluscent

- easier way to Eden

where we fuse edges of bliss

and lose ourselves

in one beam so alive...

collapsing together now...

as it all unfolds,

this heavenly spring

in cruel physical winter,

widening promise and choice

as fantasy curls illusion

openings dark, uncertain

feeling flooding high and deep...

and yearning, it reaches to sacred

over frames of desire

and delinquent pretense

at something less than mortal,

gather up, gather up...

this body, old hands and feet

this heart frayed and flapping

everywhere in winds

from other spaces,

these lips, braying farm-yard

and soul, obscure and withering

caught up in cruel tasks,

gathering more or less from

that any-grass-is-greener garden

and hearing voices...

your voice calling...

is it your delusion or mine?

and this light

will take me once more,

leaving heavy flesh

of betrayal and human chore

to earth.

warm on head and heart,

will I find yearning released there?

or will greater love be born?
