Carroll Edward "Eddie" Cole had a poor childhood and hated his mother. He learned to take this hatred out on innocent women as he grew older, claiming that he felt he "killed her through them". In 1971 Cole strangled Essie Louise Buck to death in San Diego. Though detained and questioned about the murder, he was released and a future serial killer was not stopped. Moving on to Las Vegas he strangled Kathlyn Blum and had sex with her corpse. The same fate fell to Bonnie O'Neal in San Diego and Marnie Cushman In Las Vegas in 1979.

Cole moved on to new stalking brounds in 1980, killing Dorothy King on November 11 and on the next night murdering Wanda Fay Roberts, both in Dallas. He even had the audacity to return to King's home after the slaying of Roberts and engaging in sex with her corpse. Cole was not unknown any longer however. He had been identified as being with Roberts on the night of her murder. He was apprehended during an attack on Sally Thompson in her apartment. Sadly authorities were too late and Thompson was dead upon their arrival, though they did interrupt Cole and prevent his customary necrophiliac atrocities.

For some ridiculous reason, Cole was initially released from custody for the Thompson attack but was soon arrested and confessed to killing 35 women, though it is suspected that many of his claims were blown out of proportion to benefit his insanity defense at his upcoming Texas trial and later, after being given a life sentence there, his apparent wish to be found guilty and sentenced to die in his subsequent Nevada trial. He got his wish, to which he replied "Thanks, judge". Cole refused to appeal in any way and was put to death in Carson City, Nevada on December 6, 1985.
