Location:Massachusetts, Hudson and Marlborough

It would appear that the authorities in Hudson and Marlborough, two Massachusetts cities that border each other, have a serial murderer on their hands. In September of 2003 the bodies of two women were discovered in Marlborough within 100 yards of one another. Now a third body has been discovered in the area leading Middlesex D.A. Martha Coakley to say, "We're operating on the theory that they may be related. It's just too much coincidence."

The first body was discovered on September 24, 2003, in a wooded area behind Hillside School in Marlborough. Students clearing a trail for a bike path stumbled upon the partially buried remains of a woman that remains unidentified. This Jane Doe is described as a white woman, 4 foot 11 inches to 5 foot 1 inch tall, between the ages of 20 and 35 years old. Police believe she was wearing a teal blue zip-front shirt with blue and white stripes on the sleeves, a red and black "Guess" long-sleeve shirt manufactured in 2000, blue plaid flannel pajama pants from "B-Time" and a gold bracelet engraved with the words "#1 Mom." While investigating the dump site of Jane Doe, investigators cam upon more remains five days later, these scattered from a shallow grave roughly 100 yards from Jane Doe's. This second set of remains were those of Carmen Rudy, 29. Rudy was last seen the previous September at her sister's home in Worcester. Police say that although both bodies were apparently buried in close proximity with one another, they were not buried near the same time. Testing indicates that Jane Doe could have been buried up to three years before her discovery.

Then on March 3, 2004, the decomposed remains of Dinelia Torres were discovered by a contractor clearing brush in Hudson, just over the line seperating the city from Marlborough. Her body is believed to have been dumped in the spot three to nine months before. The site where Torres' remains were found are part of the same wooded area and just off the same road where the first two bodies were discovered on 1 1/4 miles away. Both dump sites are also in close proximity to Interstate 495. Because of the advanced state of decomposition of the victims no cause of death has been determined in the three slayings. Both identified victims lived lifestyles that appear to fall in the 'high-risk' category.

Speculation has arisen concerning a possible connection with other murders in Massachusetts. Sheila Cormier, 37, of Leominster was missing for years before her body was pulled from a swamp in Lunenberg in 2001. Latasha Cannon, 17, was found with her throat slashed on the grounds of Raytheon Co. in Bedford in 2001. Also, Melissa Doherty, 19, was found bound and burned in Andover in 2002.

3/27/2004-The identity of the Jane Doe found at the Hillside School in Marlborough in September of last year has been discovered. The victim was Betzaida Montalvo, a 29-year-old drug addict and mother of five. Montalvo was a petite woman to say the least, standing on 4'10" and weighing ninety pounds at the time of her death. She had apparently been missing since late spring or early summer of 2003 (though she was never officially reported as missing), her body finally identified with the help of dental records.

Authorities have also announced that they have expanded the search for this slayer's possible victims, checking out missing person reports and unsolved cases throughout the state. Also, two Worcester prostitutes claim that they were once driven to I-290 by a customer in a van who then pulled a straight razor and attacked them. The women said they successfully fought the man off and escaped.

5/8/2004-A man named Manuel Bonilla, 29, has been arrested for three attacks on Worcester prostitutes in March and April. In two of the cases Bonilla allegedly slashed the women and in the other attempted to strangle the victim. Bonilla has not been mentioned publicly by authorities as a suspect in the three murders.

9/18/2004-Another prostitute has been found murdered. Wendy Morello, 42, was found on September 13 in a wooded area outside of York, Maine, stuffed into a garbage can. She was not identified until September 17. Morello is from Millbury but was involved in drugs and prostitution and has ties to Worcester. Police believe that Morello, a mother of two, was likely murdered and then transported to Maine and dumped there. She was last seen around September 7. Authorities refuse to release a cause of death.

7/26/2005-Investigators in charge of the Hudson/Marlborough serial murder case have met with their counterparts in Maine to discuss Morello and have concluded that her slaying is not connected with their prostitute murders.
