Georgia, Atlanta

In a series of crimes eerily similar to those of New York's "Son Of Sam", David Berkowitz, Atlanta was the scene of three seperate shootings of couples parked in cars during the year of 1977. While Berkowitz was eventually caught in the summer of that same year, Atlanta's "Lovers Lane" killer evaded capture and remains unknown to this day.

The shootings began on January 16, 1977, when the slayer shot LaBrian Lovett and Veronica Hill in Adams Park. Lovett survived long enough to drive from the scene only to crash into a vehicle nearby. Both died as a result fo their wounds later at a hospital. On February 12 the killer struck in West Manor Park when he seriously injured a couple while they sat in their car. Both described a large black male as their assailant but the vague description ultimately led nowhere.

The third and final attack occurred on March 12 when the mysterious stalker approached another car in Adams Park and unloaded his .38 on it's occupants, killing Dianne Collins and woulding her boyfriend. With that, Atlanta's Lovers Lane Killer disappeared without a trace, aparently never striking again.
