Introduce yourself please. Hi I'm Hugo, I am the producer of Headless Heroes.
Can you give us a bit of background about yourselves please? I am a producer/engineer from the UK, now living in the U.S. I produced Primal Scream's Screamadelica in the early 90's and worked with David Holmes, Radiohead among other peeps. I met eddie when he wanted to release an album I had made, that had just been signed by universal. So alas he could not. So we hatched a plan to work together in some way, and gradually we came up with the idea of doing a folk covers album. I then started to look for the covers and eddie went looking for a singer.
How did Alela become involved? Did she take much convincing?
Eddie found alela on myspace, he had been looking for quite a while and sending me bits and bobs, but nothing had caught my ear, until alela turned up on my inbox, I was blown away and she was an instant, yes! We seemed really lucky with her she was very responsive and very quickly into the idea, so fortunately it didn't take long.
Did Alela already know these songs or were some completely new to her?
She new some of them, which was great and it didn't take long for her to learn the ones she didn't |
