Quick fire questions with...
LAETO
Interview w/ Robbie Cooper: March 2000
Brief band history:
The band formed in early 1998. Since then we have released a single on Evol and an album on Guidede Missile and played with Fugazi, June of 44, Bluetip, At the drive-in and many more, and toured with Idlewild.
Have you had much interest from many fanzines?
Quite a few, most of them have been Idlewild orientatd fanzines but I can't remember all the names offhand.

What was the last record you bought?
The new 'For Carnation' album and 'Red' by King Crimson. Both fantastic records.

Who would you fire a verbal rocket at?
I generally don't waste my time getting angry with people. It is much better to ignore people if they bother you. They soon go away.

If you could tour with any bands who would they be?

Our friends 'Stapleton', 'Peeps Into Fairyland' and 'Fretlin'. Playing gigs is about having fun and enjoying the event. We would have a great time on tour with these guys.

I think you sound like a cross between Slint, June of 44 and Fugazi, would you agree?
There are definitely elements of all those bands in our sound as these are the bands that have influenced us the most. However I can hear a lot of 80's music in our stuff too such as U2. That is not on purpose, it is just the way it happens.

The album was out on Guided Missile, What other bands do you like on that label?

My personal favourite is El Hombre Trajeado. I've not heard that much of the other bands stuff.

The last time you were due to play London it was cancelled because of you all having the flu.
Yeah, we all feel a lot better now. It's a real shame that we couldn't do it because we were all looking forward to it. There are no firm plans to come back down yet but the best I can say is that we will be playing again before the end of the year. A bit vague I know. Any dates etc will be posted on the website as soon as we know them.

Album / band of the millenium?
For producing consistently good albums and or being genuinely decent people it has to be Fugazi.
