Really amazing, nerve-wracking, rushed, surreal, and sanitized. It was like performing live in the film farenheit 451. I'm really glad we pulled it off too, we were so exhausted by the end of the tour.
You played at ATP, was that a comfortable environment to be playing in? What did you think of your time there? Was it a good experience?
It was the most comfortable of the whole tour. How can anyone say different. If it werent in England, i.e. weather nicer and more food to buy than british sausage, then it would have been an absolute paradise in my opinion.
Do you ever sit and listen to your own records?
Yep. Just did today. We are preparing for a tour and I was listening to the new one to make sure its really fucking awesome.
You've gigged with some great bands such as US Maple, Rye Coalition and Shellac, which bands do you feel compliment your style the most?
Um, I guess the bands with an attitude that is relaxed and fun. Even a house/techno dj could work with us.That would rule actually.
How did you get to know Will Oldham? We attend the same anger management course.
I've done lots of interviews. I don't do too much correspondence. I have less time than I used to to dedicate myself to reading that stuff when I have films I've never seen, books I've never read, and of course music and films to make on my own. (www.siketrike.com)
Is there much happening in terms of a music scene in Baltimore? What decent bands are there?
Well, right now, Stars of the Dogon are the upcoming superstars. The 'scene' would be the losers that hang out and get drunk at the club. Thats all of us sometimes. Other times its only a few, because the rest stay at home working on projects. Music and sex projects.
I read that you were/are all obsessed with Fight Club and that you recorded your album in the midst of that obsession. True or fabrication? If true, explain what that film meant to you at the time and does it mean the same thing now?
Well, we were obsessed with that film when we recorded the first lp. The film was just fucking with everything that Hollywood has been trying to propagate for a long time. Of course in the end the film is an empty gesture, especially since most people dont even want to see skyscrapers falling in films anymore. But it really impacted us, we were like 'when will something as good as the matrix come out?" then fight club came out. we were psyched. But its nowhere near as good or relavant or effective as How to Get Ahead in Advertising.
