VERBAL ROCKET ONLINE
THE ARCHIVES
Hello, who exactly are the Pack AD and where does the name come from?
We are a garage/rock/blues duo from Canada. We were originally The Pack but there are a couple other The Packs so we added the A.D.

When and where did the Pack AD start?
We started as this band two and a half years ago in Vancouver, B.C. We thought briefly on finding a bass player but then realized it was much easier to just deal with each other.

When starting up the band, what were your aspirations and inspirations?
Hmm, aspirations: have fun. Inspirations: The movie Ravenous was a pretty big inspiration in the beginning.

What have you released so far?
Two albums. We self-released Tintype in April 2007. Our label Mint Records re-released Tintype in January 2008 and then we released our second album Funeral Mixtape with them in August 2008. Oh we also made a cassette tape of us playing in our bandspace when we first started out so that we could make money towards recording that first album.

I saw you with Scarce, was this your first time in London/UK or have you been here before? What did you make of it?
It was our second time. We played The Great Escape Festival and Dot to Dot in May 2008 as well as a couple of shows in London. We were pretty green at that point though. Thankfully we were not so disoriented the next time, which is when you saw us. So, this time was better all around - we had a lot of fun playing the shows and have come to know our way around London a bit better...and where to get the best bacon and egg sandwiches.
Do either of you have any history in previous bands?
We were both in the same band before deciding to form this one. That band didn't do anything except have a really fun summer together.

With the set up of your band, do you find yourself being unnecessarily pigeon-holed with bands like the white stripes? If so, do you find it annoying?
Yes, it's true, we do. Annoying? Only, when people think that we're trying to be like them.

Who would you say have been the best bands you've played alongside?
There's been quite a few, there's a lot of good music going on out there. But I could name, The Black Diamond Heavies, Silver Lion's 20/20, The Sadies, Thee Manipulators...

What have been your personal favorite records of this year so far?
The Black Diamond Heavies - A touch of someone else's class .
The Dears - Gang of Losers

Who would you fire a verbal rocket at?
Sigh, probably no one - what goes around comes around.
