Words by Rachel Grimes
It seems that I have trouble picking favorites - always have. Like, I
love to eat, but if someone asked me what my favorite food would be I
would have a hard time answering. So, that is why I have had a hard
time trying to figure an answer to your question.

As far as my travels as a musician, people have always made places and
times memorable and special. Surely that is because we are usually
there because someone has hosted a show and brought people out to hear
it. So, performing music does not really feel very special unless
people are receiving it and liking it or feeling intrigued and
connected.

The most warm-hearted people I have encountered as a whole at Rachel's
shows have been in Italy, Ireland, Korea and Atlanta, GA, San
Francisco, and New York City. Those places stand out where the
hospitality was generous and the warmth and enthusiasm was palpable.
But really there are always amazingly open and expressive people that
come to our shows, give us artwork, music of their own, beautiful words
and that is just such an honor and a pleasure. So, it is difficult to
even say ...

Then there is food as a memory .. Korean steaming spicy soups and
orange soju; crepes in southern France; the simplest most delicious
pasta with cheese and broccoli in Italy; homecooked breakfast feast at
friend's home in Chicago. Mmmm

And so many amazing places and landmarks:  Yorkshire hills, dramatic
sun-filled nights in Edinburgh, Pompei, Italian coast, California
coast, Arizona desert, snow-covered Rockies.
