On April 17 2002, Pte. Richard Green, Pte. Nathan Smith, Cpl. Ainsworth Dyer, Sgt. Marc Leger, were killed in a friendly fire accident. From across, Canada, and stationed in Edmonton. 6 more were wounded. |

"Wild" Bill Hunter, a member of the Order of Canada and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, co-founder of the WHA and the WHL, passed away from cancer on December 16 2002. |
