Incense
Magick, Witchcraft and Incense and always seemed to go hand & hand  and they serve 3 main purposes in the craft.

FIRST- It stimutates the sence of smell and helps condition the mind.

SECOND- It draws in the spirits with their sents magickal conection with the air.

THIRD- In compliance with the ancient views, when you spell is cast the aroma raises and    sends your spell on its way to were it is sent.

When they are used in Magick the type of incenseyou use depends on the spell that is to be cast and its correspondance with nature.

Here are some common incense and what they lend to magick.

Blue Berry- To worn off unwanted influenfces from your home
Carnations- Used for healing spells
Cherry- To attract or stimulate love  *Scared to the Goddess Venus*
Cinnamon- For wealth and success.
Coconut- Used in protection spells
Frangipane- To inritch your home with love and friendship
Frankincense- Draws energy from the sun to create a sacred space, to consecrate things and                       invoke positivity
Honeysuckle- For psychic powers, good health and luck
Jasmine- Is used in general luck spells but especially luck in love.
Lotus- For peace and harmony, used in meditation
Musk- Used to heighten sensual passion as well as for courage
Passion Flower- To give you peace of mind and helps in sleeplessness
Pine- To turn negative energies and gives you strength
Rose- Used in love magick and to calm your home
Sandalwood- For healing, purification and protection
Spice- Can be used in just about any magick spell
Strawberry- For luck, friendship and Love
Tangerine- To attract prosperity
Vanilla- To stimulate appetites and enhanse you memory

There are countless other sents of Incense but these are the most common and widly used as well as the easiest to find.


Candles
As with incense, candles always seem to have been associated with magick and candle magick is one of the oldest type of tirual magick that is sitll around today. Different colours of the candles signify the intent or purpose of the spell you are to cast. A good understanding of the signification for the candle colours is need to make you spells work.

Here are a list of some canlde correspondences.

Black- Banishes evil and negitivity, For mouring of a loss, for meditation, Signifys
          feminine divinity, (This Colour is said to attract Saturns energy)
Light Blue- A spiritual color used in inspirational meditations, promotes tranquility and
         peace,  (Radiates the engery of Aqurius)
Royal Blue- The colour of loyalty, laughter and joy, (Promotes the engery of Jupiter)
Blue- The colour of the spirits of the west and the elements of water, used to gain wisdom,
         peace, tranquility, healing, sleep, truth, friendship, hope, physical protection and
         prophetic dreaming
Brown- The colour of the spirits of the north as well as the elements of the Earth, Used
         to invoke animal magick, also used to get rid of indecisiveness and to inprove
         concentration in study and in telepathy, can be used for financial sussesses and to
         find things you may have lost
Gold- Attracts the power of cosmic influences, for aid us in better undertanding in general,
         can be used to get quick money or for luck. (Generates energy from the sun)
Grey- Being a neutral colour and is used to help is solving difficult issues you may be
         trying to meditate over, can also get rid of negative influences
Emerald Green- Attracts social fun and activities, love and fertility
Dark Green- Has many uses such as for beauty, finding a job, matters of the heart,
          for money, feritliy, healing, sucess, luck and prosperity, but is the color of greed
         and jealousy.
Pink- Attracts romance and friendships, draws affections, love, humour, friendship, and
         fidelity. Is the colour of femininity
Purple- For psychic ability, wisdom, spirituality, success, power, healing, independence and spiritual growth.
Red- Symbol of the spirits of the south and the elements of fire, used for strength, power, courage, passion, energy, vitality, love, will power and health, (Draws engery fo aries and Scorpio)
Silver- Gets rid of negativity, gives you stability and can aide in developing psychic powers, also used for protection, honouring the goddess, promotes telepathy and clairvoyance,
White- The balance of al colours and is very useful in meditation, healing seeking truths, peace, spiritual enlightenment, rituals involing the moons energys, for purity, happiness, and protection.
Yellow- The symbol of the spirits of the east and the air elements, used for confidence, attraction, visions, wisdon, psychic abilitys, mental powers, activity, unity and creatibity,

Witches Tools
As in many other religions tools are used in the craft to aid in worship and rituril, they are powerless alone but they are symbolicly powerful. Here are some of the basic tools used in Witchcraft.

ATHAME
An atheme is a dagger used in ritual useally with a double edged blade. Its a command tool, used to direct the power that is passed threw it. Its used to cast circles (see page on casting), to consecrate objects and get rid of negative energys. Its purpose if for magickal rituril only not for cutting.

PENTACLE
The traditional tool and symbol of Witchcraft. It a circle generally constructed of wood, copper or stone. On it is engraed or panted a five pointed star with a singel point pointing up. This is called a Pentagram.

CENSER
A censer is simply an incense burner used to burn incense durring a ritual. This symbolizes the elements of the air .

WAND
The wand is one of the most important tools af a Witch and for the best power is should be made of the wood from a Willow, Oak, Peach, Elder, Cherry, Hazel or an Apple tree. These trees are consittered sacred.  It shuld be as long as you arm is from your elbow to the middle of the index finger. But today many other things are used ot make a wand. The wand can be tipped with a symbol, stone, gem or a crystal of some sort. It's used to envoke the Gods/Goddess and Spirits, to give blessings, charge abjects or for the drawing of the moon during a ritual.

CHALICE
Like the wand, the chalice is one of the element tools and represents water. The stem of the chalice is a symbol of the connection between us and the spirits, the base is the symboly of the material world in whitch we live and the opening at the top symbolizes the recieving of engery from the spirits.  It can be made of almost anything. It is used ot hold the water used for the blessings or at times wine used during a ritual. Many covens pass the chalice around for the member to drink from to signify a sence of unity.

CAULDREN
Is symbolic to the womb of the Goddess . It is used for making brews and potions, or to contain a small fire to use with spells. It can also be used for scying or dinination, byt filling it with water and gazeing into it.

BROOM
The broom is used to purify and protect and to ritually cleanse an area before a spell or magick is performed by sweeping away bad energys, (symbolically). Its is used as a gaurdian of the home against attack of evil curses by putting it across and enrty way of some sort that you feel the curse may be albe to enter from.

BELL
Used in ritual for invocation and for banishing. Can be used  to show the start of a ritural and banishing negative engeries before it begins.

BOOK OF SHADOWS
Is the book of the Witch and is a written document of rituals, spells, invocations, runes, rules and others elements of the craft such as symbols, poems, chants and anything elce the witch my find usefull. It's is traditionally hand written but can be typed or put on disc. Eatch witch generally writes their own book. Or can be written by a covern.
