... "I'm not antisocial," sang Flat Stanley's lead singer, 16-year-old Adam Popick. "I just don't like you." OK, so the bands' lyrics might still need some tweaking, but their stage presence is frenetic and fun. Each band had its own version of living the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. They slunk, sulked, stomped and bounced on stage. They wore button-up shirts, tie-dyed T-shirts and jumpsuits reminiscent of the Devo era. At the end of Flat Stanley's set, trumpeter Parker Shorey abandoned his instrument and leapt from the stage. The 17-year-old from Ferrisburgh floated on the upstretched hands of the crowd. ... |
