Try to arrive by 7:50AM!!!
Band students are expected to arrive prior the start of band. They will need
plenty of time to set up their chair, stand and instrument in order to have
a productive rehearsal. Some schools require students to check-in with their
homeroom teacher before band. Please arrive early enough to do this as well.
Remember, this is a class just like science, math, or social studies.

Concert dress for all Wellesley Public School concerts is:
Boys: white shirt, black pants, and
black shoes.
Girls: white shirt (short sleeved or longer), black pants or skirts, and black
shoes.
If you do not own any of these items, just wear as close as possible. Brown or blue pants will be fine. No jeans and sneakers, if possible.

Only your child's private teacher can decide when your child is ready to enter band. It's important that students do not enter band until they are at an appropriate level to succeed. Generally, first-year students begin entering band in January or February. Do not be concerned if your child is not ready to join when other children are joining. Everyone learns at a different pace. It's much more important that your child enter when his/her instrument teacher thinks your child is ready. Children who enter too soon become frustrated and many times end up quitting their instrument. If you have concerns about this, please feel free to contact me.

Rehearsals for All Town Band are from 3:30-4:30 and are held in either the WMS bandroom, or the WMS auditorium. These rooms are next to each other, your child will be directed where to go when they arrive. Please try to arrive by 3:20. By the end of the year, there are over 100 children involved.
It is essential your child attend all of these rehearsals. It is the only way for all seven elementary school ensembles to rehearse together. We have tried to alternate the days of these rehearsals to avoid scheduling problems. If your child's instrument lesson coincides with an All Town Band rehearsal, please notify the private teacher as far in advance as possible. The teacher will either attend the rehearsal with your child as part of their lesson, or give your child a make-up lesson. Please contact me with any concerns.
