Jos Verstappen in A1 Grand Prix - 2005 & 2006

2005 saw the introduction of a new and innovative racing series; A1 Grand Prix (A1-GP). Dubbed, the 'World Cup of Motorsport', the format is simple but exciting. Each team represents a country; each team has one car and one driver representing his nation. All the cars have the same chassis and engine providing spectators with a closely fought race, perhaps more driver-orientated than Formula One.

For season 2005 to 2006, Jos Verstappen joined Team Netherlands managed by former Dutch F1 racer, Jan Lammers.

JV:UK's Andrew Rose and Darren Knight attended the first A1GrandPrix at Brands Hatch, UK for an action-packed race. Jos took 7th position in the maiden race.

Verstappen raced well throughout the season, finishing in the points on numerous occasions and taking an outstanding victory at the South African A1 Grand Prix after starting last on the grid!

Despite a successful season, Jos left A1 Grand Prix at the beginning of season 2006-07 after a dispute over his salary.
