Horses being killed in the U.S.? What? We don't even eat horsemeat here! Well, if your asking these questions, you are confused as I was when I first heard about it. Here's the story.

In countries such as France, Belgium, Italy, Mexico and Japan horse meat is considered a delicacy. So, here in the good ol' U.S. they own slaughterhouses where horses that were once companion animals or champions or even young horses are sent.

These slaughterhouses are so secretive, one can hardly make out the outline of the horse as it awaits death in a slaughter house in Canada.

Right under our noses too. Has this ever been reported on local news? NO. The public doesn't hear much about this brutality. But, there is hope. There are many groups out there that are triying to help horses. A group called The United Pegasus Foundation (UnitedPegasus.com) has set up a horse sanctuary where, when they get donations, they buy horses that are about to be transported to these horrible slaughterhouses.
